Final Table Bios

Seat 1: Jonathan Duhamel (842,000) — Duhamel is the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event champion and a member of Team PokerStars Pro. The Canadian has $11,891,086 in live tournament earnings coming into this event, with $8,944,310 of that coming from his WSOP Main Event win. In 2011, Duhamel won the 2011 EPT Deauville €10,000 High Roller for €200,000, and today he'll be looking to add a second EPT High Roller title to his trophy case.

Seat 2: Thomas Muhlocker (1,224,000) — Austria's Muhlocker is one of the lesser-known players at the final table. With $315,381 in live tournament earnings, Muhlocker could more than double that with a win here in this event. This summer, Muhlocker earned the largest score of his career when he took sixth in Event #57: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em at the WSOP, earning $129,447.

Seat 3: Jean-Noel Thorel (1,260,000) — Thorel is a regular on the European poker circuit, especially in high roller events. He has $783,368 in live tournament earnings, but only one six-figure score on record. That result was from a second-place finish in the 2009 EPT Deauville €20,000 High Roller event where he won €115,200. He also took fourth in the EPT Deauville that Duhamel won in 2011, earning €53,000. Last year, Thorel finished sixth in this very event for €54,390.

Seat 4: Richard Yong (1,208,000) — When you look up Yong's tournament results, you're only going to find a short list of four cashes, but all of them have been final tables and for no less than €400,000. In 2012, he took eighth in the WSOP's $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop for $1,237,333, second in the Aspers £100,000 High Roller for £570,000, and third in the WSOP Europe €50,000 Majestic High Roller for €400,000. Earlier this year in April, Yong took second in the HK$1,000,000 Manila Millions for HK$6,548,000.

Seat 5: Joni Jouhkimainen (1,945,000) — For being so young, start-of-the-day chip leader Jouhkimainen has quite a long list of poker achievements. His largest result by far — and his only six-figure score — was last year, right here in Barcelona. Jouhkimainen took third place in the EPT Barcelona Main Event for €404,050. Jouhkimainen hails from Finland and has $1,475,356 in live tournament earnings.

Seat 6: Ole Schemion (530,000) — Germany's Schemion is the baby of the group when you look at everyone's age, but he has a laundry list of impressive results that would depict otherwise. Schemion has several EPT side event wins under his belt, a massive Partouche Poker Tour Main Event win for €1,172,850, a Master Classics of Poker victory for €286,200, and a first-place finish in the Lebanese Poker Tour Kyrenia Championship Event for $201,206. Also of note is that Schemion has now cashed in the three most marquee events here at EPT Barcelona — the other two being the €50,000 Super High Roller and the Main Event. In the Super High Roller, he took sixth place for €159,200. Schemion has $3,303,030 in live tournament earnings.

Seat 7: Raoul Refos (462,000) — Refos only has five results on record, with his largest coming a few years ago in 2008 when he took sixth place in the Master Classics of Poker for €84,420. His other four results all come from EPT events, including a fifth-place finish in a €5,000 side event at the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino EPT Grand Final last year for €50,900. In total, Refos has $227,036 in live tournament earnings.

Seat 8: David Benefield (229,000) — Like Schemion, Benefield is also making a deep appearance in his third marquee event here in Barcelona. Benefield took fifth in the €50,000 Super High Roller for €208,150 and also cashed in the Main Event. Benefield is the short stack at the final table, but it's a position he's going to have to welcome because come November, Benefield will be taking his spot at the WSOP Main Event final table last in chips. With similar chip position here against tough competition, this event will surely serve as a practice round for the 2013 WSOP November Niner. Benefield has $1,656,541 in live tournament earnings.

Seat 9: Daniel Negreanu (1,225,000) — Negreanu is the other member of Team PokerStars Pro at this final table and needs no introduction. The Canadian, who now calls Las Vegas his home, has an astounding $18,186,975 in live tournament earnings, five WSOP gold bracelets, and two World Poker Tour titles. In 2013, Negreanu has been having himself quite the year, already earning $1,846,396. The bulk of this year's earnings came from Negreanu's fifth WSOP bracelet win when he won the inaugural WSOP Asia-Pacific Main Event for AU$1,038,825.

Nine Return with Negreanu and Duhamel Headlining Final Table

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Welcome back to our coverage of the European Poker Tour Season 10 High Roller event! Yesterday the final numbers were tallied to find that event saw 180 total entries. There were 138 unique players and 42 re-entries. At the end of play, it was Joni Jouhkimainen who led the unofficial final table of nine.

While Jouhkimainen is the largest stack at the table, the man directly behind him is none other than PokerStars Team Pro Daniel Negreanu. Negreanu, who quit this event just two days ago due to a ruling dispute, re-entered late in Day 1 and now has a shot to win the very event that he dropped out of. Negreanu is second in chips and no stranger to high pressure final tables, so he will most certainly be the one to watch as this table progresses.

The 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Jonathan Duhamel also navigated through this stacked field to find a seat at the unofficial final table. Duhamel seems to be riding a hot streak at this stop, as his entry into this event came fresh off of a 3rd place finish in a €2,000 No-Limit Hold'em side event here at the EPT Barcelona. Duhamel pocketed €62,600 for that finish but is now eyeing today's top prize of €390,700.

Speaking of recent deep runs, both Ole Schemion and November Niner David Benefield will also hit the felt today. Less than a week ago, both Schemion and Benefield final tabled the Super High Roller, finishing sixth and fifth respectively. Today could mean redemption for either player as they seek the title of high roller champion.

Cards are set to fly at 12:00 pm local time for this stacked final table. Be sure to stay tuned to PokerNews for all of the latest updates!

David Benefield came into the day as the short stack with nine remaining, but was only able to get ad far as eighth place after falling to Ole Schemion. The 2013 World Series of Poker November Niner earned €47,850 for his finish.

Action folded to Schemion in the cutoff seat, and he raised to 50,000. Benefield reraised all in from the button for 257,000, and play folded through the blinds and back to Schemion. He called holding the {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}. Benefield had a dominated {A-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. The flop, turn, and river ran out {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{J-Spades}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades} to give Schemion two pair and the winning hand.

This result caps off an extremely impressive EPT Barcelona for Benefield, having cashed in the three most prominent events of the festival. He first took fifth in the €50,000 Super High Roller for €208,150, then took 110th in the Main Event for €11,350. Adding in this result and Benefield has earned €267,350 from his three scores in Spain.

Richard Yong Eliminated in 7th Place (€66,000)

Nível 22 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante
Richard Yong (Day 2 )
Richard Yong (Day 2 )

Mere moments after David Benefield fell, a sudden confrontation between Ole Schemion and Richard Yong saw the end of Yong's tournament life.

Yong opened with a raise to 52,000 from early position and it folded to Schemion who made it 118,000 to go. Action folded back to Yong who moved all in and Schemion snapped him off, rolling over {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}. Yong shook his head and showed {A-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}. The action happened so quickly that we were unable to get a count on Yong's stack, but it looked to be somewhere around 900,000.

Yong flopped a ray of hope when the dealer fanned {6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, giving him a diamond draw to double up. Ultimately, nothing materialized on the turn ({6-Spades}) or the river ({2-Hearts}). Yong was eliminated and Schemion scooped up a massive pot, bringing him to 2.175 million.

Ole Schemion Eliminated in 6th Place (€90,700)

Daniel Negreanu raised from under the gun to 64,000. Jean-Noel Thorel reraised to 150,000 on the button, then Ole Schemion reraised all in for 284,000 out of the big blind. Negreanu folded, and Thorel made the call.

Thorel held the {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, and Schemion had the {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}. Schemion was the player at risk and flipping for his tournament life.

The flop came down {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, and Schemion joked to Negreanu that he would take a chop if a straight ran out. The {3-Spades} on the turn left Schemion needing only an ace or a jack to double, but the {10-Spades} on the river wasn't it.

Schemion was eliminated in sixth place for €90,700. LIke David Benefield, Schemion final tabled the €50,000 Super High Roller, cashed in the Main Event, and then made this final table. Schemion took sixth in the Super High Roller for €159,200, and 123rd in the Main Event for €10,000, bringing his Barcelona total to €259,900.

Jonathan Duhamel raised to 80,000 before the flop and found Thomas Muhlocker three-bet to 190,000 from the next seat over. Duhamel tanked for a bit before shipping all in over the top for what looked to be a little over 1.1 million. Muhlocker snapped him off.

Duhamel: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Muhlocker: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

"You said you're good at racing," remarked Negreanu to Duhamel from across the table. Duhamel let out a faint chuckle as he eagerly awaited the community cards.

Duhamel struck gold on the {9-Hearts}{J-Spades}{k-Hearts} flop, giving him a pair of kings and the lead in the hand. The {2-Spades} turned and Duhamel seemed primed to double here during five-handed play. Suddenly, the 2010 WSOP Main Event champion went from in the lead to out of the tournament as the river brought the {Q-Diamonds} and gave Muhlocker a winning straight.

Jean-Noel Thorel completed from his small blind and Daniel Negreanu checked from the big blind. The flop came {4-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and Thorel announced an all in bet for around 900,000. Negreanu instantly called.

Negreanu: {5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}
Thorel: {J-Hearts}{2-Hearts}

Thorel shipped all in with his flush draw into Negreanu's made seven-high straight. Negreanu needed to fade a heart to sent Thorel packing and thrust the tournament into heads up play. The {K-Clubs} bricked on the turn for Thorel and he was looking for a heart on the last community card. Unfortunately, it was the {7-Spades} and Thorel was forced to settle for a third place finish.

Daniel Negreanu had the button. He raised to 160,000. Thomas Muhlocker came over the top for 405,000 total and Negreanu announced an all in bet. Muhlocker snapped him off.

Negreanu: {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}
Muhlocker: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

"Again!?" said Negreanu, referencing the first time that Muhlocker doubled with an overpair into Negreanu's pocket fours.

The board ultimately ended up giving Muhlocker a full house with {5-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{8-Spades}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Negreanu was forced to relinquish his chip lead. He now has about 2.85 million to Muhlocker's 6.15 million.

Daniel Negreanu Eliminated in 2nd Place (€263,800)

Nível 27 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu - 2nd Place
Daniel Negreanu - 2nd Place

From the button, Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu opened with a raise to 160,000. Thomas Muhlocker reraised out of the big blind to 405,000, and that prompted Negreanu to look down and count out how many chips he had. With right around 2.5 million, Negreanu reraised all in. Muhlocker snapped, and it was another all-in situation between the two.

Muhlocker had the {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}, which once again had Negreanu dominated. The five-time World Series of Poker gold bracelet winner held the {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}.

The flop came down {K-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}, and Negreanu went from rooting for a queen to rooting for a jack to make a Broadway straight. Muhlocker's friends rooted for anything but the help Negreanu needed.

The turn was the {5-Spades}, and that didn't change a thing. "Well that card was absolutely no good," said Negreanu. "Jack or it's dinner time," he finished.

The river completed the board with the {6-Hearts}, and that finished things off. Negreanu had missed, and it was a second-place result for him worth €263,800. With this result, it is estimated that Negreanu will earn a little more than 140 points for the Global Poker Index Player of the Year. The leader coming into this event was Paul Volpe with 814.81 points, and Negreanu sat in sixth place with 731.18. According to the GPI, Negreanu will now jump to over 870 points and take over first place by a solid margin.

On the other hand, Muhlocker was all smiles as his rail congratulated him. For the victory, Muhlocker earned €390,700, the trophy, and a watch from luxury Swiss brand SLYDE, the official watch sponsor for Season 10 Main Events and High Rollers of the European Poker Tour.
