Have a guess at just how much today’s 37 Super High Roller players have collectively earned in live poker tournaments. $100 million? $150 million? Think again – it’s actually well over £200 million, with an astonishing average of $5.7 million per player. Today’s field includes six of the Global Poker Index’s top 10: Ole Schemion (#2), Philipp Gruissem (#3), Mike Watson (#5), Steve O’Dwyer (#6), Igor Kurganov (#7), and Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu (#8).
British pro Sam Trickett, runner-up in the 2012 WSOP “The Big One for One Drop” event, is the leading earner with total live tournament winnings of €19,880,794. He is narrowly ahead of Negreanu - well, if you can call $1.3 million “narrow” that is.
As it is, six of the players have won at least $10 million and together they have cashed nearly 1,900 times. Thanks to Alex Dreyfus from the Global Poker Index for all the info:
Action folded to Fabian Quoss on the button and he opened for 10,000. Chip leader Bill Perkins called from the small blind and then Sam Trickett three-bet to 36,000 from the big. Quoss got out of the way, Perkins announced that he was all in, and Trickett snap-called off for 156,000 total.
Trickett:
Perkins:
"I've got two out," the smiling Perkins said. Indeed he did, but he wouldn't find one as the board ran out .
Well, he's at it again. Philipp Gruissem has opted to fire a third bullet in the tournament. Meanwhile, both Jonathan Duhamel and Sorel Mizzi have re-enter for the first time.
Philipp Gruissem had has a tough day so far, and it just got a lot worse. The German pro ended up all in for 52,500 chips and was up against Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu.
Jason Mercier raised from the hijack and Mike McDonald called from the big blind. The flop brought out and both players checked.
On the turn the popped up and McDonald check-called a bet from Mercier.
The river brought the and McDonald checked to Mercier who bet 32,000. McDonald raised it up to 100,000 and left Mercier confused. The Team PokerStars Pro tanked for a long time and tried to get a tell from McDonald who did not blink.
Eventually Mercier folded and McDonald picked up another pot.
