The Money Bubble Will Burst Here on Day 3

Tower Bridge
Tower Bridge

Welcome back to the Season 10 European Poker Tour London Main Event. What started with 604 players is already down to 107, of which 87 will get paid. That means 20 players will leave empty handed, and we don't expect it to take too long for the money bubble to burst here on Day 3.

Tudor Purice is the man best positioned to make a deep run into the money as he begins the day as chip leader with 628,200 in chips. Others who are sitting on healthy stacks are Ludovic Geilich (436,000), November Niner Mark Newhouse (380,800), Andy Moseley (487,100), and Yngve Steen (576,400).

In addition, three members of the Team PokerStars Pro remain — including Henrique Pinho (150,300), Barry Greenstein (129,300), and The Jorgensen (71,200). Other notables still in the field are Sebastian Blom (the brother of legendary Viktor "Isildur1" Blom), Kitty Kuo (266,000), Maximilian Senft (251,400), Sam Greenwood (248,800), Paul VOlpe (217,200), Jeff Rossiter (212,800), David "Devilfish" Ulliott (210,000), Shannon Shorr (202,200), Dan Smith (179,300), Kyle Julius (157,900), Timothy Adams (151,700), Daniel Weinman (150,100), Jan Sjavik (143,700) and Tom Middleton (141,100).

If you recall, Middleton won the EPT10 Barcelona Main Event last month. Could he become the first player to win two EPT Main Event titles (and back-to-back titles for that matter)? Only time will tell.

Action is set to kick off at Noon local time, which is less than an hour from now. Today the levels will be 90 minutes, and the plan is to play five of them. Be sure to stick around as we bring you up-to-the-minute updates straight from the floor.

Ulliott Gets a Newhouse

Over at the secondary feature table, action folded to David "Devilfish" Ulliott in the hijack and he raised to 8,000. When action reached November Niner Mark Newhouse in the small blind, he opted to three-bet to 18,500. The big blind folded, Ulliott four-bet to 50,000 and Newhouse called, which brought about a flop of {2-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs}.

Both players checked, the {5-Clubs} turned, and Newhouse bet 50,000. Ulliott made the call and then bet 80,000 when Newhouse checked the {9-Hearts} river. "Wait a minute," Ulliott said as Newhouse tanked. He then took out some sunglasses from his jacket pocket and put them on.

Newhouse tanked for several minutes before folding. "Tell me what you had and I'll show," Ulliott offered. Newhouse claimed that he had folded pocket tens. Ulliott then tabled the {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}.

Just 13 of 45 Skrilles Remain in the Last Longer Competition

Skrill team hard at work

One name that keeps popping up here at the EPT London is Skrill – which isn’t a player, but rather an online payment solutions company that aims to evolve “the way people pay and get paid globally.” Skrill is branded on each of the tables, and they also have a booth where players can sign up for their popular "Last Longer Competition."

The Skrill Last Longer competition will be held at each stop on this season’s EPT, of which they’re an official sponsor. The promotion is simple – players sign up for the promotion either online (preregistration is available) or at the Skrill booth (which will be present at each stop); don a Skrill patch; and then aim to be the last man or woman standing. The last player remaining will then receive the £5,250 buy-in back in their Skrill account.

While Skrill is upping the ante for Season 10 with a bigger branding initiative, this isn’t their first appearance on the EPT; as a matter of fact, they were a sponsor of Season 8 and have held previous “Last Longer” promotions (the most successful being in EPT Copenhagen when one of their players took second).

The company’s website provides a bit more information on Skrill, which rebranded from Moneybookers back in 2010:

“Skrill has been moving money digitally since 2001. We offer online payment solutions for businesses and consumers, allowing them to pay and get paid globally. Over 36 million account holders already trust Skrill. Our customers can send and receive money worldwide in 200 countries and 40 currencies, securely and at low cost, without revealing their personal financial details. Your business will benefit from our worldwide payment network with over 100 payment options. Whether through a simple one-step integration or a fully-tailored payment solution. Whoever you are, however you like to pay or get paid, trust Skrill to make your online payments simpler, faster and safer.”

Headquartered in London, Skrill is looking to make their presence known in the poker world with a commitment to customer satisfaction through innovation and service. Not only that, they’re looking to be more than just a company by becoming a trusted and respected member of the poker community.

The 45 players took part in the EPT London Skrill Last Longer, but just 13 remain here at the start of Day 3. Here's a look at those players:

[Removed:203], Mateusz Zbikowski, Leo McClean, Dimitrios Farmakoulis, Christoph Weckmann, Jan Bendik, Maximilian Senft, Kenny Hallaert, Daniel Reijmer, Thomas Middleton, Chris Brammer, Craig McCorkell and Ryan Yu.

The PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be keeping an eye on the latest incarnation of the Skrill Last Longer throughout the duration of the EPT London Main Event.

Barry Greenstein Eliminated on the Bubble of the Bubble

Barry Greenstein
Barry Greenstein

Tudor Purice shoved from the small blind on Team PokerStars Pro Barry Greenstein and the latter made a quick call, finding himself in a dominant spot and a favourite to double up.

Purice: {K-Clubs}{4-Hearts}
Greenstein: {K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}

Yesterday, Purice eliminated Vicky Coren with the same hand in the same situation (blind on blind) and a similar story was found today.

The board ran out {3-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} and Purice made two pair to knock out "The Bear". There are now 88 players left in the tournament, a table is just being broken and then the event will be going hand-for-hand on the bubble.

Steven Lewzey Bubbles EPT London

On table 33, Steven Lewzey was all in on a flop of {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs} with Ziv Vachar and Kuljinder Sidhu having both called; a mass of cameras surrounding the table.

Vachar checked the innocuous-looking {2-Hearts} on the turn and Sidhu bet 17,000. Vachar made the call to see the {K-Hearts} on the river before checking again as Lewzey looked glumly onwards.

Sidhu fired a 27,000 bet this time and Vachar folded. Lewzey tabled a missed {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and Sidhu quickly turned over {A-Spades}{A-Hearts} for a big pot.

Lewzey was knocked out and a round of applause rippled through the room as everyone else still involved in the tournament is now guaranteed at least £9,080.

Quoss Earns a Small Payday

Nível 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Fabian Quoss
Fabian Quoss

The eliminations are coming fast and furious now that the bubble has burst. One of the first to go was high-stakes regular Fabian Quoss.

It happened when action folded to the German in the cutoff and he shipped for his last 23,000 or so. The button and small blind both folded, but [Removed:203] opted to look him up from the big.

Mueller: {a-Spades}{6-Spades}
Quoss: {J-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

Quoss was dominated, and the {6-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{q-Spades} flop didn't do him any favors as Mueller hit two pair. Quoss needed running cards to stay alive, but the {7-Hearts} turn took away any chance of that happening. The meaningless {8-Diamonds} was run out on the river for good measure and Quoss collected his satchel before making his way to the payout desk to collect a min-cash.

Eighters Gonna Eight

Jeff Rossiter
Jeff Rossiter

There was a three-way all in between Rasmus Vogt, Steve Silverman and Jeff Rossiter. It looked as thought Vogt had pushed all in preflop and Rossiter had called in the small blind with Silverman also moving in from the big blind.

Vogt: {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}
Silverman: {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}
Rossiter: {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}

The board came {A-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{9-Spades} and Rossiter went from worst to first in a split second while the other two were eliminated.

Kitty Kuo open-shoved for 100,000 in the hijack, Jamil Kanji called out of the small blind, and the big blind released.

Kanji said he called "light," showing {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}, and Kuo happily turned over {a-Spades}{10-Spades}.

Kuo held up as the board came {5-Hearts}{6-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}, and doubled to 213,000 chips. Kanji fell to 575,000.

The only European Poker Tour winner remaining, EPT7 London winner David Vamplew was all in and at risk preflop for 177,000 holding {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}. Wai Kin Yong had him at risk with {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}, and Vamplew remained ahead on a flop of {7-Spades}{k-Spades}{5-Hearts}.

The turn was the {j-Clubs}, giving Yong a leading pair, and the {10-Spades} completed the board.

With Vamplew's exit, there will be yet another new EPT champion.
