EPT London Day 2 Skrill Last Longer Competition Update

Nível 9 : 400/800, 100 ante
Skrill team hard at work
Skrill team hard at work

One name that keeps popping up here at the EPT London is Skrill – which isn’t a player, but rather an online payment solutions company that aims to evolve “the way people pay and get paid globally.” Skrill is branded on each of the tables, and they also have a booth where players can sign up for their popular "Last Longer Competition."

The Skrill Last Longer competition will be held at each stop on this season’s EPT, of which they’re an official sponsor. The promotion is simple – players sign up for the promotion either online (preregistration is available) or at the Skrill booth (which will be present at each stop); don a Skrill patch; and then aim to be the last man or woman standing. The last player remaining will then receive the £5,250 buy-in back in their Skrill account.

While Skrill is upping the ante for Season 10 with a bigger branding initiative, this isn’t their first appearance on the EPT; as a matter of fact, they were a sponsor of Season 8 and have held previous “Last Longer” promotions (the most successful being in EPT Copenhagen when one of their players took second).

The company’s website provides a bit more information on Skrill, which rebranded from Moneybookers back in 2010:

“Skrill has been moving money digitally since 2001. We offer online payment solutions for businesses and consumers, allowing them to pay and get paid globally. Over 36 million account holders already trust Skrill. Our customers can send and receive money worldwide in 200 countries and 40 currencies, securely and at low cost, without revealing their personal financial details. Your business will benefit from our worldwide payment network with over 100 payment options. Whether through a simple one-step integration or a fully-tailored payment solution. Whoever you are, however you like to pay or get paid, trust Skrill to make your online payments simpler, faster and safer.”

Headquartered in London, Skrill is looking to make their presence known in the poker world with a commitment to customer satisfaction through innovation and service. Not only that, they’re looking to be more than just a company by becoming a trusted and respected member of the poker community.

The 45 players took part in the EPT London Skrill Last Longer, but just 24 remain here at the start of Day 2. Here's a look at those players:

George Manolache, [Removed:203], Mateusz Zbikowski, Sven Reichardt, Fergal Nealon, Leo McClean, Jesper Hoog, Karl Andre Oddsen, Carlos Chadha, Dimitrios Farmakoulis, Christoph Weckmann, Mustapha Kanit, Rumit Somaiya, Carl Carlsson, Jan Bendik, Maximilian Senft, James Parker, Joni Jouhkimainen, Kenny Hallaert, Daniel Reijmer, Thomas Middleton, Chris Brammer, Craig McCorkell and Ryan Yu.

The PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be keeping an eye on the latest incarnation of the Skrill Last Longer throughout the duration of the EPT London Main Event.

Kamal Leaves Horecki Spitting

Nível 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Marcin Horecki had a good start with an early double up but he's just lost a substantial pot to knock him back down again. He'd opened to 1,600 preflop and Kamal Choraria moved all in behind him. The Polish Team PokerStars Pro made a quick call.

Horecki: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Choraria: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

The board was {6-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and Horecki was knocked back down to 35,000.

Sammartino Sends Elliot to the Rail

Nível 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

After Dario Sammartino had opened, William Zane Elliot shoved all in for his last 17,000 or so. Action folded back to Sammartino and he made the call.

Sammartino: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Elliot: {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}

Elliot got it in good, but he was racing for his tournament life. The {2-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{j-Clubs} flop was disaster for Elliot as Sammartino flopped trips. Neither the {2-Clubs} turn nor {10-Hearts} river helped Elliot and he became an early Day 2 casualty.

Running in the Family

Nível 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

David Blom, older brother of Viktor has just managed to extricate himself for a nasty spot. The elder Blom was all in preflop against David "Bakes" Baker with both covered by James Parker and started off with the worst hand.

Blom: {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Baker: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Parker: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

The poker gods are Swedish today though and the board came {4-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} to treble up the sibling of 'Isildur1'. (Can we call him Anarion?)

Chouity Gets Rousso Talking To Herself

Nível 9 : 400/800, 100 ante
Vanessa Rousso on Day 1b
Vanessa Rousso on Day 1b

Unfortunately we missed the action before the river, but the what we witnessed was very entertaining none the less.

The board showed {2-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} when Rousso, who was seated in the big blind, faced a shove from EPT Monte Carlo winner Nicolas Chouity. Chouity was seated under the gun and put 30,700 across the line with 22,000 chips in the pot.

"They don't make it easy for me!" Rousso sighed as she directed herself towards the dealer.

"Terrible.....terrible," Rousso mumbled.

"It feels like king-queen," Rousso continued her monologue, while Chouity stared to the same spot on the table continuously.

As the staring continued the other players at the table became less and less interested in the hand, but Rousso wasn't done analyzing just yet.

"I'm only 60% sure you have king-queen and I need to be 80% sure," the former EPT Monte Carlo high roller winner said.

"I hate it!" Rousso finally cried as she pushed her cards towards the dealer.

"I'm sorry guys," she later said as the play continued, "I've made a lot of good calls in my life and I was really close to making this one as well."

Rousso did not make the call and therefore both her and Chouity's stack are very similar right now.

Daniel Negreanu raised to 1,800 in the cutoff, Jens Kaiser three-bet to 6,000 in the small blind, and Marc Pujol Cases moved all in for 13,700 in the big blind. Negreanu folded, and Kaiser called.

Kaiser: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Cases: {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}

The board rolled out {j-Spades}{5-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{q-Spades}, and Cases was eliminated.

Mizrachi in the Danger Zone

Nível 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Michael Mizrachi fired out 10,000 on a board of {9-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades}, and his opponent, Adham Beainy, tank-called. Mizrachi shrugged before showing a card that appeared to be an ace, then mucked when Beainy tabled {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for jacks and tens.

Beainy shot up to 156,000 chips, while Mizrachi is on life support with 8,000.

Trickett Flush With New Chips

Nível 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

"All in and a call," we heard a dealer call out.

When we arrived at Table 30, the flop was {j-Spades}{2-Spades}{4-Hearts}, and Morten Mortensen was all in with {k-Spades}{10-Spades}. Sam Trickett had him in terrible shape with {a-Spades}{4-Spades}, and Mortensen was drawing dead when the {7-Spades} turned.

A meaningless {5-Diamonds} completed the board, and Mortensen hit the rail Trickett is up to 82,000 chips.

Watts Knocks Out Morgenstern

Nível 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Anton Morgenstern was bound to make the WSOP Main Event final table last summer when he entered the final day of play as the chip leader. Morgenstern had a disastrous final day and finished 20th for $285,408 and right here in London he will not get redemption for that result.

Morgenstern started the day short and moved all in from the button for around 7,000 chips and Steven Watts called from the big blind.

Watts: {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Morgenstern: {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

The board ran out {J-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{9-Spades} and Morgenstern was knocked out.
