An under-the-gun player raised to 700 and action folded to Igor Kurganov, who called from the button. Rupert Elder, in the big blind, came along and three players took a flop of . Two checks saw Kurganov bet 1,050, and both his opponents called to see the turn.

All three players checked, and when the completed the board on the river, Elder moved all in for 7,975. The under-the-gun player folded and Igor, who was chowing down on a salad, began to mull over the decision. Eventually he put together a call and dropped it in the pot.

PokerStars Team Pro Chen-An Lin raised to 625 from the cutoff and the player in the small blind made the call. Lin's Team Pro colleague Aditya Agarwal in the big blind squeezed to 2,300 and both Lin and the small blind called.

The three of them got to work with and the small blind checked. Agarwal followed his preflop aggression up with a bet of 3,600. Lin resolutely shoved all in for 12,850 and the small blind folded. Agarwal asked how much it was, and made the call.

Davies Gives Up on the River

With around 4,000 in the pot and a board reading , Scott Davies, who won the 2014 World Series of Poker APAC Main Event here at Crown Melbourne, bet 2,800 from the big blind after his opponent in the small blind had checked.

The small blind then checked the turn and Davies thought for a bit before doing the same. The player in the small blind tabled the for a pair of eights, and it was good as Davies simply mucked.

Ivey Starts Off On the Right Foot

Phil Ivey's success at the Aussie Millions is well documented. Of his $23,856,034 in career live tournament earnings, Ivey has earned $8,132,084 of that from the Oceania region, or greater than one-third. He's won the Aussie Millions LK Boutique $250,000 Challenge three times, finished second in the $100,000 Challenge in 2010, and recorded a trio of top-30 finishes in the Main Event.

Ivey's best result in the Main Event came in 2012 when he took 12th out of a field of 659 entries for AU$100,000.

Additionally, one of Ivey's 10 World Series of Poker gold bracelets came from Australia, when he won the WSOP Asia-Pacific's AU$2,200 Mixed Event in 2013.

Ivey's in the field for Day 1c, opting to enter a little late into the day, but nonetheless he's gotten off to a positive start.
