Rast Headlines 2015 Aussie Millions Final Table; Rann Chip Leader

Nível 26 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Brian Rast

The 2015 Aussie Millions Poker Championship Main Event began with 668 players, but now just seven remain in contention for the AU$1.6 million first-place prize.

The man best positioned to capture the title is James Rann, who leads the final table with 4.085 million. However six men stand between him and victory including two-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Brian Rast and established online pro Richard "nutsinho" Lyndaker.

Day 4 saw 30 players return to action, and it didn't take long for action to heat up; in fact, 11 players hit the rail in the first level of play. Among those to fall were Mike "Timex" McDonald (30th), Michael Pedley (27th), Jonathan Roy (26th), and Stevan Chew (25th), all of who took home AU$30,000.

In Level 20 (6,000/12,000/2,000), the world's most feared poker player, Phil Ivey, saw his Main Event run cut short courtesy of Australia's Anthony Legg. It happened when Ivey opened for 26,000 on the button and then called Legg's three-bet to 63,000 from the small blind. The {4-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop saw Legg bet 79,000, Ivey raised, and Legg three-bet all in. Ivey called off and the cards were turned up.

Ivey: {q-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Legg: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Ivey got it in good with top pair, but his flush draw was no good as Legg held the ace of hearts. That's what made the difference as the {9-Hearts} turn gave both players a flush. Ivey rapped the table as the dealer put out the {7-Diamonds} river and then took his leave from the tournament in 23rd place for AU$40,000.

From there, Tony Hachem (22nd – AU$40,000), Michael Addamo (21st – AU$40,000), Ryan Yu (20th – AU$20,000), Jan Suchanek (19th – AU$40,000), Jesse "OnTheMac" McKenzie (18th – AU$55,000), Andrew Chen (16th - $AU55,000), and defending champ Ami "UhhMee" Barer (11th – AU$95,000) all hit the rail.

Barer's title defense came to an end in Level 24 (15,000/30,000/5,000) after he raised to 60,000 from the cutoff and Alex Lynskey three-bet to 160,000 from the button. The blinds both folded, Barer four-bet all in for 725,000, and Lynskey quickly called.

Barer: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Lynskey: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

It was a flip, but Barer was the one needing to improve. The {8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop didn't help him, and the {10-Diamonds} turn actually left him drawing dead. The meaningless {3-Hearts} was put out on the river for good measure, and then Barer ended what proved to be a memorable follow-up run.

After a massive misstep by Raiden Kan, one that resulted in him exiting in 10th place, and the eliminations of Lynskey and Grant Levy in ninth and eighth place respectively, the final table was set.

Grant Levy Eliminated in 8th Place (AU$120,000)

Nível 26 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Grant Levy
Grant Levy

You have to feel a bit for Grant Levy. This tournament means so much to him and yet again a deep run in the Main Event falls just short of making the final table. He was gutted when he finished 13th in 2009 and 15th in 2012, so defeat today will surely hurt again.

Lennart Uphoff raised from the button and called when Levy moved all in from the small blind.

Uphoff: {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Levy: {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

The board ran {6-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{a-Clubs}.

Full counts, seat draw and recap of the day will be up shortly.

"Hero Call"

Nível 26 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Joel Douaglin limped the small blind and Lennart Uphoff checked his option from the big. Both players then checked the {8-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop as well as the {A-Hearts} turn. When the {5-Hearts} completed the board on the river, Douaglin led out for 75,000 and Uphoff called.

Douaglin tabled the {10-Hearts}{2-Spades} for a bluff, and that prompted Uphoff to roll over the {k-Clubs}{9-Spades} for king high and the win.

"Hero call," Douaglin complimented his opponent after the hand.

Uphoff Gives to Douaglin

Nível 26 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Lennart Uphoff used those chips just gained in the previous hand to attempt a bluff on Joel Douaglin, but he failed.

Douaglin limped his button and picked up both blinds en route to a {6-Spades}{3-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop. He bet 150,000 and was only check-called by Uphoff. Both played the {5-Clubs} turn before Uphoff used two fists to bet 250,000 on the {q-Hearts} river. Douaglin called with {a-Spades}{6-Spades}, good enough to beat his opponent's {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}.

Uphoff Takes from Lyndaker

Nível 26 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Lennart Uphoff opened for 100,000 from the button and Richard Lyndaker called from the big blind. Both players checked the {3-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop, and then did the same on the {4-Hearts} turn. When the {6-Clubs} completed the board on the river, Lyndaker led out for 270,000 and Uphoff called.

Lyndaker showed the {10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for not much of anything, and Uphoff table the {8-Hearts}{a-Clubs} for a straight and the win.

Rann Charging Hard

Nível 26 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Brian Rast raised to 100,000 from under the gun, and James Rann reraised to 300,000 out of the big blind. Rast called, and the flop came down {K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}. Rann continued with a bet of 300,000, and Rast made the call to leave himself with just over 1.1 million behind. On the turn, Rann moved all in after the {9-Spades} appeared. Rast mulled it over for a little bit, but folded, and Rann won the pot.

Round-By-Round

Nível 26 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

The final eight players are now split in half and playing round-by-round at two tables. That means each will play four hands before pausing and waiting for the other. The atmosphere is intense here on the final table bubble of the 2015 Aussie Millions Main Event.

Alex Lynskey Eliminated in 9th Place (AU$120,000)

Alex Lynskey - 9th Place
Alex Lynskey - 9th Place

It turned out only to be one double up for Alex Lynskey before he was eliminated. On the next hand following his double, Lynskey's big blind was shoved on by Anthony Legg from the small blind. Lynskey called with the {K-Hearts}{6-Hearts}, but he was dominated by the {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds} for Legg — you might say he had a "Legg" up on Lynskey.

The board came {Q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, and Lynskey was eliminated in ninth place. He took home AU$120,000 for his finish.
