Lita Hsu Eliminated in 24th Place (AU$40,000)

Nível 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Lita Hsu was all in for his last 155,000 with the {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. Although he was suited, Hsu's hand was dominated by the {A-Spades}{J-Clubs} of Lennart Uphoff. The flop, turn, and river ran out {5-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}, and Uphoff won the pot.

Hsu took his leave in 24th place and earned AU$40,000 for his effort.

Stevan Chew Eliminated in 25th Place (AU$30,000)

Nível 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Stevan Chew was all in for his last 156,000 with the best of it, holding the {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} against Brian Rast's {A-Spades}{7-Hearts}. The flop came down {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} to hit Rast a little bit, but Chew was still in front with his jacks.

The turn was the {8-Spades}, and then wham! The {7-Clubs} spiked on the river to deliver a full house to Rast and win him the pot. Chew was eliminated in 25th place for AU$30,000, and Rast improved to 2.1 million in chips.

Jonathan Roy Eliminated in 26th Place (AU$30,000)

Nível 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Alex Lynskey has finished off World Poker Tour Montreal champ Jonathan Roy.

It happened when action folded to Roy in the small blind and he open-shoved for right around 225,000. Lynskey called from the big and Roy was in dire straits

Lynskey: {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Roy: {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

Both players shared a jack, but of course Lynskey had an ace to go with his. The {5-Hearts}{a-Spades}{7-Hearts} flop was no help to Roy, but the {Q-Spades} turn did give him a Broadway draw to a king. The dealer burned one last time and put out the {J-Clubs} on the river. Both players paired up, so the kicker made all the difference. Roy was lacking in that department and had to settle for 26th place.

Ivey Doubles

Nível 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Phil Ivey has chips to play with now after he doubled through Terence Clee.

Clee raised to 60,000 from the button and Ivey defended his big blind to see a {3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} flop. Clee continued for 60,000 and Ivey check-called to the {4-Hearts} turn where he was set all in for his last 142,000. Snap!

Clee opened {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} but Ivey had flopped a set with {2-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and filled up on the {3-Clubs} river.

Lynskey vs. Roy

Nível 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

We picked up the action with nearly 300,000 already in the pot and a board reading {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}. World Poker Tour champ Jonathan Roy appeared to have checked from the under-the-gun position and Alex Lynskey bet 168,000 from the cutoff.

Roy thought long and hard before tossing in a single chip to signify a call, but mucked just as soon as Lynskey rolled over the {3-Hearts}{3-Spades} for a full house.

Michael Pedley Eliminated in 27th Place (AU$30,000)

Nível 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Michael Pedley - 27th Place
Michael Pedley - 27th Place

Michael Pedley stood in disbelief at the fact he had just been eliminated in 27th place. There were no bad beats, but instead one incredible call from Brian Rast.

Three players saw a flop come {7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, and when it checked to Rast who bet from the button only Pedley called from the big blind. Pedley again stuck with him after the {k-Spades} turn where he check-raised Rast's 115,000 bet up to 230,000. Rast made a quick call before facing an all-in bet from Pedley valued at 390,000 on the {q-Hearts} river.

Rast immediately asked how much the shove was, which showed his interest. He then went through a period of several minutes where he folded his arms, stood up, and sat back down again, all the time while mumbling to himself trying to figure out what Pedley could have. Eventually, he made the call with {j-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} for just a pair of nines! Pedley told him it's a good call and opened {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}.

Rast received lots of praise from the rest of the table and those looking on from the rail. Some gave him a little fist pump to acknowledge just how good the calls was.

"I know, right! I wanted to call, but how can you call with that?" said Rast.

Dominic Coombe Eliminated in 28th Place (AU$30,000)

Nível 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Action folded to Australia's Dominic Coombe in the cutoff and he raised to 26,000. Chip leader Raiden Kan, who hails from Macau, then three-bet to 65,000 from the button, a move that inspired both blinds to get out of the way. Coombe opted to push back with a four-bet to 185,000, Kan five-bet all in, and Coombe called off his stack of what looked to be 600,000.

Coombe: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Kan: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Coombe was in a bad spot, and his best shot at survival was to catch an ace. The {3-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop was no help, and neither was the {10-Diamonds} turn. Coombe needed an ace and an ace only on the river to double, but it wasn't in the cards as the {7-Clubs} bricked. Coombe exited in 28th place for AU$30,000 while Kan extended his chip lead.

"The rich get richer," Terence Clee chimed.

Jannis Bräuer Eliminated in 29th Place (AU$30,000)

Nível 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Sarkiss Osalian opened for 26,000 from the cutoff and Jannis Bräuer called from the button. Jesse McKenzie came along from the big blind and three players took a flop of {10-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{6-Hearts}. McKenzie checked, Osalian continued for 76,000, and Bräuer jammed for approximately 300,000. McKenzie got out of the way and then Osalian made a quick call.

Bräuer: {10-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Osalian: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

The Austrian had flopped top pair with top kicker, but it was way behind the overpair of Osalian. Neither the {4-Hearts} turn nor {8-Diamonds} river helped Bräuer, and he shook hands with his vanquisher before making his way to the payout desk in 29th place.

Mike "Timex" McDonald Eliminated in 30th Place (AU$30,000)

Nível 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Mike McDonald - 30th Place
Mike McDonald - 30th Place

Mike "Timex" McDonald began the day as the short stack, so it was no surprise to see him go first.

It happened when action folded to him on the button and he shoved for his last 120,000 or so. Defending champ Ami Barer called from the small blind, and the big got out of the way.

Barer: {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
McDonald: {10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

McDonald was behind, but at least he was drawing to two live cards. The {3-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop wasn't very special, but the {9-Clubs} turn did make things interesting as McDonald picked up an open-ender, though Barer had flush blockers. Those scenarios proved to be a moot point though as the {7-Hearts} paired the board on the river and Barer won the pot with his king.

Big Slick Does the Trick for Pedley

Nível 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Brian Rast, one of three Americans remaining in the field, raised to 27,000 from the button and then called when Michael Pedley three-bet to 47,000 from the big blind. The {2-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} flop saw Pedley bet 43,000, Rast called, and then the dealer burned and turned the {Q-Hearts}.

Pedley bet again, this time 67,000, and Rast came along to see the {10-Hearts} river, which both players checked. Pedley tabled the {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} for kings, and it was good as Rast mucked his hand.
