The opening event of the 2023 World Series of Poker Europe at King's Resort in Rozvadov has reached the final three tables. Stefan Drusca leads the way after Day 2 action in Event #1: €350 NLH Opener, setting the pace with 6,985,000 chips.

The first of 15 gold bracelets events saw 378 returning players from a total field of 3,503 entrants for the second day of play, each of them already assured a cash of €960. The event created surpassed the guarantee with a prize pool of €1,048,272, the largest portion of €110,000 going to the champion along with a WSOP gold bracelet.

Drusca leads the way ahead of some sizeable stacks, including two-time WSOP Europe bracelet winner Emil Bise. The Swiss native was able to survive the day and is in prime position to add another piece of hardware to his collection.

With the field down to the last 24 contenders already, all dealers were instructed to finish their current hand and stop for bagging and tagging.

That last hand on table 153 saw David Hu push all-in for 890,000 and Mikkel Plum eventually called out of the big blind.

David Hu: A8
Mikkel Plum: 55

The pocket pair came out on top thanks to the 1092K4 board and Hu was ousted in 24th place.

Bertu From Hero to Zero

Nível 31 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Christian Bertu
Christian Bertu

What started with a button raise by Christian Bertu escalated soon after when Lukas Pazma got involved from the big blind. It was a big flip for the biggest pot of the tournament so far.

Lukas Pazma: JJ
Christian Bertu: AK

The two overcards of Bertu missed on the 55386 board to send the Italian on a short stack.

Soon after, Bertu was all-in with the AQ and looked up by Wladimir Gerner, who revealed the inferior KJ. On a board of 8633A, Gerner rivered the higher flush and that brought the field down to the last 24 players.

Vega Meister and Bise Score Eliminations

Nível 31 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Emanuel Flesner

Jacques Scherer had been among the middling stacks for a while and eventually called a shove by Alfredo Vega Meister with ace-jack in a battle of the blinds. Vega Meister was trailing with the K7 and that remained the case on the A97 flop as well as the Q turn.

However, the cruel K river ended Scherer's run with a bad beat story to tell.

Emil Bise and Emanuel Flesner then went to war in similar style as both exposed big aces.

Emanuel Flesner: A10
Emil Bise: AQ

The KQ926 board kept Bise ahead all the way and he was all smiles, joking "let's go party".

Plum Turns the Knockout

Nível 31 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Samir Boudeliou and Mikkel Plum were heads up, with all of the chips in the middle and Boudeliou at risk.

Samir Boudeliou: A9
Mikkel Plum: K4

Boudeliou saw a clean flop of 567 to remain in front, but Plum picked up additional outs. The 4 turn gave Plum a pair, while the J river left Boudeliou second best to hit the rail.

Kang Doesn't Gamble

Nível 31 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

William Kang and Schayan Schakeri were heads up to the turn on a board showing 6762. Kang led out for 200,000 in the small blind before Schakeri raised all in to around 1,250,000.

Kang took a few minutes considering a call, telling the table that he had a "straight flush draw on the flop". Eventually, he made the fold and Schakeri took down the pot.

At a nearby table, Tawfik Samih could not beat the pocket sevens of Iman Ghashayar to end his tournament run.
