Day 1h of Event #5: THE COLOSSUS ended today with 29 players making it through to Day 2 on Wednesday November 1st. After more than 9 hours of play Jaroslaw Sikora takes the chip lead honours for Day 1h with 507,00 chips. This also means he is the overall chip leader of all the players that have made it to Day 2 already.

Sikora has been here for a few weeks already having cashed three times this month during the WSOP Circuit events. Sikora is definitely no stranger to big tournaments and big cashes as he has accumulated more than $1,000,000 in live cashes already. Second in chips is Laszlo Toth from Hungary who has also been here in Rozvadov for a while already. He has two cashes in the earlier WSOP Circuit events here. He is taking 484,500 with him to the tables on Wednesday. Sander van Wesemael is third in chips today with 472,000. After nursing a pretty short stack at the beginning of the day, things started going a lot better for him in the second half of the day.

Other notables making it through to Day 2 are Michael Magalashvili (241,500), new WSOPE bracelet winner Martin Kabrhel (235,000), Erich Kollmann (217,500), Erik Cajelais (160,500) and Vladimir Burstein (120,000). Unfortunately, not everyone make it through today, players like Theodoros Aidonopoulos, Catalin Pop, Pierre Neuville, Sebastian Langrock, Chris Ferguson, Ryan Hughes, Dermot Blain and many others fell today.

The last two flights take place tomorrow here at the King’s Casino so stay tuned to PokerNews for all the latest news.

Iurie Cudrinschi
Iurie Cudrinschi

Antoine Vranken was all in and called by Iurie Cudrinschi. Vranken was at risk of being eliminated as he had the shorter stack.

Iurie Cudrinschi: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Antoine Vranken: {A-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}

The board ran out {9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades} - no help for Vranken and he was eliminated from the tournament.

Valk Loses Two Big Ones

Nível 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Jaco Valk
Jaco Valk

Jaco Valk was down to his last 36,000 after losing eights against ace-queen earlier and then losing with pocket sixes against ace-king. The flop was good for him when it came six-nine-queen but then the jack came on the turn and the ten on the river to give his opponent a runner-runner straight.

Van Wesemael Eliminates Two

Jan Riha went all in from the cutoff and so did Christopher Back in the small blind with a bigger stack. Sander van Wesemael, seated in the big blind called.

Sander van Wesemael: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}
Christopher Back: {A-}{10-}
Jan Riha: {A-}{7-}

The board ran out {K-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} - Van Wesemael hit two pair, kings and queens and that was more than enough to eliminate Riha and Back from the tournament.
