Sam Trickett - Another Chip Lead and Another Final Table

After nine levels of play in the Le Cannes Croisette Casino, we managed to squeeze the field down from 49 players to the final nine. Leading that talented bunch of poker players is none other than Sam Trickett. The golden boy of poker cannot stop nailing final tables this year, and he will return tomorrow hoping to add a WSOP bracelet to his collection of poker trophies.

Also in the hunt for the bracelet is November Niner Eoghan O'Dea, WSOP Circuit Event winner Sam Chartier and WSOP bracelet winner Steve Billirakis.

Final table action resumes at 15.00 (CET) where we will return to the Hotel Majestic Barriere so make sure you are prompt if you want to catch all of the action.

Oleksii Kovalchuk Eliminated in 10th Place (€17,190)

Oleksii Kovalchuk Eliminated in 10th Place

Oleksii Kovalchuk has been one of our more patient players throughout this tournament and his girlfriend has been by his side throughout every hand. Unfortunately for him, and maybe fortunately for her, he has some spare time on his hands courtesy of Ramzi Jelassi.

Jelassi raised to 10,000 and Kovalchuk defended his big blind. The flop was {Q-Hearts} {9-Spades} {2-Diamonds} and Kovalchuk check-raised all-in for around 90,000, after Jelassi had c-bet 13,000. Jelassi made the call and we had our showdown.

Jelassi{Q-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {3-Hearts}
Kovalchuk{K-Hearts} {K-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}

Kovalchuk was in a world of hurt and only a minor miracle was going to save him from elimination.

Turn: {8-Hearts} and river {7-Hearts} and it was all over.

Jelassi Doubles Through Uspenskiy

From the small blind Ramzi Jelassi decided to complete giving the action to Uspenskiy who raised to 15,000 from the big blind. Jelassi called and checked on a {3-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop. Uspenskiy bet out 22,000 and after double checking his cards Jelassi decided to re-raise pot to 90,000. Uspenskiy thought about it for 30 seconds and pushed all-in. Jelassi called for 40,000 more creating a huge pot.

Konstantin Uspenskiy{Q-Clubs}{J-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Hearts}

The turn was the {5-Diamonds} and the river the {A-Diamonds} giving Jelassi a straight and the double up. We're still with ten players.

Final Ten

Nível 17 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

We are down to the final ten players and will play until either one more person has been eliminated or we end Level 18. We have a hunch it will be the former. Due to French rule we are not allowed to play ten-handed tables, so for the time being we are playing two tables of five-handed play.

David Callaghan Eliminated in 11th Place (€17,190)

PLO specialist David Callaghan, who finished 4th in this very event in 2007, has just been eliminated in 11th place. The man who knocked him out was none other than Sam Trickett, and in the end Callaghan was unlucky.

Callaghan raised to 13,000 from the cut-off and Sam Trickett raised to 46,000 on the button. Back to Callaghan and he moved all-in for a few chips shy of 100,000 and Trickett made a resigned call.

Callaghan{A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds}

Board: {Q-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {4-Hearts}

Trickett shook the hand of Callaghan and we were down to the final ten players.
