Nível 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Paul Vas Nunes
Paul Vas Nunes

Andrey Pateychuk moved all in for 680,000 on the button. Next to act was Paul Vas Nunes, and he called. The big blind folded, bringing the two players to a showdown.

Pateychuk: {A-Hearts}{7-Clubs}
Vas Nunes: {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}

The board rolled out {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}{5-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}, and that was good for Vas Nunes. He remained in the lead the whole way, giving him the pot. Pateychuk was eliminated from the tournament, making him the second Russian eliminated in the span of two hands at the same table.

Soika Makes a Big Call

Nível 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

From middle position, Jingwei Zhang opened to 110,000. Big blind Ihar Soika called.

The flop was {4-Hearts}{4-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, and Soika checked. Zhang bet 80,000, and Soika check-raised to 230,000. Zhang called in position.

The {K-Hearts} hit the turn, and Soika bet another 230,000. As casual as could be, Zhang raised to 650,000, seemingly grabbing the chips blindly to raise. He was very much aware of what he had raised, though; he clarified it was 650,000 as soon as Soika raised an eyebrow.

Soika called and checked on the {6-Clubs} river. Zhang, again casually, grabbed 600,000 and put them into the middle in one sweeping motion. Soika tanked for about four minutes before he called.

Zhang showed {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a bluff gone wrong, and Soika took down the pot, tabling {J-Clubs}{8-Hearts}.

"Wow!" Neil Patel said. "Oh my lord!"

Travis Lutes Chips Up

Nível 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Richard Dubini raised to 115,000, and Travis Lutes called on the button.

The flop came {3-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}, and both players checked. The turn was the {7-Hearts}, and Dubini check-called a bet of 185,000 from Lutes. Both players checked the river {q-Diamonds}.

Dubini showed {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}, and Lutes winced before showing {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}, perhaps feeling like he could have extracted more value from his pocket pair.

Dubini still has a healthy stack, though, and is the last remaining Day 1 leader from this year's Main Event.

JP Kelly Eliminated by Brandon Meyers in Battle of the Blinds

Nível 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
JP Kelly
JP Kelly

According to Brandon Meyers, action folded to him in the small blind, and he moved all in with {A-}{K-}. JP Kelly was in the big blind and called for his remaining stack of around 700,000. He was behind with {A-}{Q-}.

Unfortunately for Kelly, he couldn't find help from the {J-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Diamonds} {6-} {4-} board, and he was eliminated from the Main Event.

Michael Sassen Falls on the River

Nível 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Michael Sassen
Michael Sassen

The action was folded to Shawn Daniels, in the cutoff, who raised to 125,000. Michael Sassen was in the small blind and three-bet to 325,000. Daniels four-bet to 750,000, and the action was back on Sassen, who five-bet jammed all in for 2,700,000. Daniels quickly called, and the cards were tabled.

Daniels: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Sassen: {a-Hearts}{9-Spades}

Daniels was in front with his pair of kings, and Sassen needed to catch an ace. And an ace he caught on the {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} flop, instantly taking the lead. The turn was the {5-Hearts}, and the river landed the {k-Clubs}. Daniels spiked a set of kings on the river, and when all the chips were counted, Daniels had Sassen covered by around 100,000.

Sassen walked off to collect his winnings, and Daniels stacked his chips with some shaky hands.

Lee Pays off a River Raise From Michael

Nível 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

There was only around 350,000 in the pot on the river, with the board reading {7-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{K-Clubs}{6-Spades}{Q-Hearts}. Gyeong Byeong Lee bet 250,000, and Joseph Michael raised to 850,000.

Lee was in the tank when the clock was called on him, not for the first time today. He ran his clock all the way down until there was only 10 seconds remaining, and he tossed in a chip to signify a call.

Michael turned up {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a rivered straight, and that was good for him to take down the pot while Lee slipped, falling under four million chips after being near the top of the counts earlier in the day.

Player Interview: Frank Crivello

Nível 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Frank Crivello
Frank Crivello

Frank Crivello has been hovering near the top of the chip counts for most of the day, and things had been going pretty smoothly until he lost a 2.5-million-chip pot right before the players went to break.

Even though he might be disappointed in how he played the hand, he still sits with an enviable stack of around 6 million.

PokerNews met up with Frank Crivello to find out about that tragic hand and how he plans to bounce back to finish out the night strong.

Crivello: I had {a-}{q-} on the button. I raised and got three-bet from the blind. I called, and the flop came {q-}{j-}{4-} rainbow. The blind led out for 400k, and I put him all in. He had {j-}{j-} for a set. It was a tough beat.

PokerNews: How does such a big hit to your stack play into your mindset going forward?

Crivello: I'm dwelling on that a little bit, but I'll be over it by the time we come back from break.

That was probably one of the worst hands I played all tournament. Usually, I don't make errors like that. I could have been a little more cautious on the three-bet, or because I had position, I could have four-bet to see where I am in the hand. If I four-bet, he may have laid down his jacks, or if he came back over the top, I might have laid down ace-queen.

PN: Tell us a little bit about the day before that dreadful hand.

Crivello: I don't play a lot of big pots, and that's why I'm a little disappointed in myself right now. There's one hand that stood out because I made a straight flush and won about 800k. But mostly I've been chipping up consistently. I've been pretty good at picking my spots.

PN: You only have one WSOP cash, and you earned that early this summer. Are you new to the WSOP?

Crivello: I played last year, but I mostly play online. I don't play a lot because I own companies, but I do well online. I've won some significant stuff online. To be honest, I'm not a big live player, so most of my playing happens on the computer. I work way too much to sit there day in and day out.

PN: Since you're not much of a live player, why are you playing the Main Event?

Crivello: Because it's the Main Event. It's the tournament.

My first year playing was last year, and I made it to late on Day 3, 10-15 before the money.

It feels good to be playing well. I'm picking my spots and staying patient. I've stayed out of trouble other than this last hand, and now I'm going to work on getting my stack back up to the eight-million-chip range by the end of the night.

According to Joshua Horton, he raised from the hijack, and Jeffrey Rothstein called from the small blind.

The flop came down {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{8-Spades}, and Rothstein bet. Horton called, and the {K-Diamonds} fell on the turn. Rothstein bet, and Horton called again. The river was the {K-Hearts}. Rothstein bet, Horton raised all in for 3,410,000, and Rothstein tanked for a while before he called.

"Yes!" shouted Horton, as he tabled {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} for quad nines. Rothstein's hand was revealed to be {K-Spades}{7-Spades}, and Horton collected the massive double.
