From the cutoff, Charlie Carrel opened for 225,000. Scott Seiver called from the button before small blind Bertrand Grospellier squeezed to 775,000. The big blind folded. Carrel and Seiver both called.
The flop came and Grospellier continued for 910,000. Carrel called and Seiver folded after about five minutes in the tank.
As the completed the board, Grospellier shoved for 2.1 million, effectively. Now it was time for Carrel to tank as he spend at least seven minutes before he folded.
The action folded around to Simon Lam in the small blind who moved all in for 1,120,000. Byron Kaverman was in the big blind and went into the tank for over a minute. He eventually called having Lam barely covered by 35,000.
Kaverman:
Lam:
The board ran out , improving Kaverman to a full house and sending Lam home in 17th place for $166,666.
The remaining 16 players will now redraw for the final two tables.
Andrew Robl raised to 210,000 from the hijack and Antonio Esfandiari reraised all in for 1,150,000 from the cutoff. Martin Jacobson tanked for a bit from the button and folded, the blinds folded, and Robl called.
Robl:
Esfandiari:
The board came down , safe for Esfandiari to double through Robl.
"Whoooo, back in business!" shouted an excited Esfandiari.
Bertrand Grospellier moved from the feature table to one of the outer tables, to the great joy of Phil Hellmuth who was seeking revenge for some hands late last night.
Having just sat down, Grospellier opened the hijack to 215,000. Small blind Igor Kurganov shoved for 895,000 total and big blind Hellmuth folded after some Hollywooding. Grospellier instantly called.
Igor Kurganov:
Bertrand Grospellier:
While Liv Boeree on the rail asked for an ace like only Davidi Kitai's girlfriend had done before ("Ace! Ace! Ace!), it was to no avail. The board ran out and Kurganov said his goodbyes.
