Event #54: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed Championship
Dia 2 Concluído
On Thursday, 186 players took chips out of the bag at the start of Day 2 of Event #54: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha, but only 39 are still standing at the conclusion of play, and while all remaining players are guaranteed to cash for at least $17,420, each has their sights set on WSOP gold and the top prize of $938,732.
Leading the way is two-time bracelet winner Scott Clements with 1,724,000 chips, and close behind are Michail Karapanos (1,133,000), former WSOP Player of the Year Ben Lamb (1,090,000), Ryan Miller (1,011,000), John Racener, (987,000) Cyrus Parton (931,000). Following at a somewhat greater distance are Aleksei Altshuller (794,000), Johnny Lodden (672,000), Jason DeWitt (657,000), Miltiadis Kyriakides (542,000) and Mike Gorodinsky (228,000).
Several familiar faces that took to the felt at the start of play on Day 2 but were gone before the money include Daniel DiPasquale, Anthony Zinno, Tony Cousineau, David "ODB" Baker, Leif Force, Isaac Baron, Christian Harder.
The money bubble was reached during the level following the dinner break and it took nearly 40 minutes for it to burst with the elimination of Patrick Mahoney. Thereafter, Jarred Graham made his exit in fairly short order, followed by several other well-known players, including Toby Lewis, Ian O'Hara, Alberto Fonseca, and Scott Davies. Shortly before the end of the night, defending champion Brandon Shack-Harris was also eliminated, meeting his end in a run-in with Clements.
The remainder of the field will return at noon on Friday and they are scheduled to play down to a winner. However, given the present size of the field, it is probable that play will continue for a fourth day on Saturday, July 1st 2017. Miltiadis Kyriakides may have very well been another chip-millionaire at the end of Day 2, but a runner-runner miracle of Hani Mio in the very last hand of the night destroyed that dream. Mio check-raised a flop of out of the big blind to get his remaining stack of 166,000 into the middle and Kyriakides snap-called.
Hani Mio:
Miltiadis Kyriakides:
Kyriakides had flopped the nut straight and Mio had a gutshot to the same straight. Instead of a split pot, the nightmare of Kyriakides consisted of the turn and
river, giving Mio a runner runner flush. Kyriakides turned away from the table in horror and his chair fell over while Mio scored a big double in the last hand.

Michail Karapanos defended his big blind against a raise by Gionni Demers and check-raised the flop from 30,000 to 80,000. Demers called before Karapanos check-called a big bet on the
turn.
The river completed the board and Karapanos checked. Demers moved all in and Karapanos asked for a count. The shove of Demers was for 288,000 and Karapanos then verified the size of the pot until the river with the dealer, which was 492,000 in total.
After a minute of consideration, Karapanos called and Demers turned over for just a pair of nines. Karapanos claimed the pot with
for the five-high straight and skyrocketed his stack to more than 1.1 million

Two-time WSOP bracelet winner Scott Clements has just knocked out last year's $10,000 PLO Champion and two-time bracelet winner Brandon Shack-Harris in a blind on blind hand.
Shack-Harris was in the small blind and limped in for 12,000. Scott Clements peeked down at his cards and reached back for some chips, firing out a bet of 36,000. Harris broke down his stack and called with 49,000 behind.
The flop was and Shack-Harris immediately pushed in the rest of his stack. Clements pondered for a moment and then grabbed some chips and called.
Shack-Harris tabled for a pair of nines with some back-door options. Clements showed
for over-cards to Shak-Harris's pair, a couple of gut-shot straight draws and a back-door flush draw.
The turn was the changing nothing and the river was the
giving Clements a pair of queens to take down the hand.
