Fal Falls to Gluszko

Madsen Knocks Out Simao

On the 3 river Madsen checked and Simao shoved for around 8,000. Madsen went deep into the tank for several minutes before making the call.

Simao could only show a bluff with J1093 while Madsen had kings up with KKQ4 to take the pot.

Remembering Matthew Parry Ahead of $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 6-Handed

Welcome back to PokerNews, the official media partner of the 2024 World Series of Poker and home of live updates from all bracelet events.

Today sees the start of Event #97: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 6-Handed here at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.

This three-day event gets underway at 2 p.m. local time with late registration open for eight levels (~8:45 p.m.). This event allows for two reentries. There will be 15-minute breaks every two hours. Levels 1-6 are 40 minutes in length before increasing to 60 minutes from Level 7 onwards.

The starting stack is 40,000 chips with the plan for Day 1 to play 12 levels. For the surviving players, Day 2 resumes at 1 p.m. on July 16, where another ten levels play out. A winner will be determined the following day.

Last year’s event attracted a field of 1,014 entries generating a prize pool of $2,704,710. The winner was Matthew Parry who defeated Dustin Goldklang heads-up to win $480,122 and a WSOP bracelet.

Parry, a well-liked and respected figure in the poker community, sadly passed away in June 2024. He was a Scholastic National Champ at chess, hailed from New York where he graduated from Fairport High School, and studied at the University of Buffalo. He learned to play poker with friends and online.

Parry had $1,908,422 in lifetime tournament earnings throughout his career, with this bracelet win being his biggest score. PokerNews offers condolences to the friends and family of Matthew Parry, a World Series of Poker champion.
