Eugene Ward check-jammed into a bet by Shachar Haran from under the gun and a call with the flop showing Q♣7♣3♣. Once both opponents folded, Ward tabled the Q♥7♠ for flopped two pair.
One table over, Artem Metalidi was in the tank on the 6♣4♥2♥J♦Q♠ river. He faced a bet worth 8,400 and reluctantly sent his cards into the muck to drop below one third of the starting stack.
Heads-up on a board of K♦2♥4♦6♦ with several thousand already in the middle, John Iemolo checked from the small blind and Tony Miles bet 18,000. Iemolo called.
The 2♠ completed the board and Iemolo checked again. Miles quickly fired 42,000 into the middle, which sent Iemolo deep into the tank.
Iemolo eventually tossed in a call and Miles could only show A♦Q♥.
Iemolo turned over K♥Q♦ for kings-up and was sent the large pot.
Three players saw the 8♠5♠2♥3♥ turn. Igor Yaroshevskyy was in the small blind and checked to the big blind, who fired 2,200 into the pot of about 8,500. Maurice Hawkins was on the button and raised to 6,500 before Yaroshevskyy checked-raised to 15,000. The big blind quickly folded, but Hawkins stuck around with a call.
The 5♣ landed on the river, and Yaroshevskyy continued for 25,500, putting Hawkins in a tough decision. Hawkins went deep into the tank, taking a little over three minutes as he talked to himself. Eventually, he apologized to the table and mucked his hand.
And Brandon Mitchell made a strong case for the argument in two straight hands after the dinner break despite being well below the starting chip stack.
On the first hand, Mitchell raised to 1,100 and received a call from a player in the big blind.
The dealer ran out 8♠4♦K♦ on the flop, which the player in the small blind checked. Mitchell made a continuation bet of 1,400, and the player in the small blind called.
The J♠ appeared on the turn, and the player in the small blind checked. Mitchell sized up to a 5,100 bet, which forced out his opponent.
On the very next hand, Mitchell raised to 1,100 while under the gun and then watched as the two players to his immediate left called. Action folded to the player in the small blind, and he also called, while the big blind folded.
The dealer fanned 2♦10♠2♣ on the board, and the player on the small blind checked. Mitchell then bet 1,200, which drew a call from the player to his immediate left. The remaining two players folded.
The J♥ showed up on the turn, and Mitchell bet 2,700, which his opponent called.
The 3♠ on the river slowed down action as Mitchell and the player to his immediate left checked.
James Tian raised to 1,200 under the gun and Robert James called in the next seat over. The players on the button and in the big blind also called as a flop of 7♠8♥2♣ hit the table.
The action checked to James, and he bet 1,200. The button folded, but the big blind and Tian put in calls.
The big blind then led out for 6,500 on the 4♦ turn and Tian called. James made it 17,000 to go, folding out the big blind.
Tian, however, stuck in his stack of 52,000 and James quickly called.
James Tian: 6♦5♦
Robert James: 7♦7♣
Tian had turned a straight and doubled up when James' set failed to fill up on the K♥ river.
With about 19,000 in the middle the completed board of A♠J♦4♣8♣Q♣ was already on the table, and the action checked to Drew Gonzalez who fired 15,000 into the middle. His only opponent in the hand thought went into the tank for about a minute before tossing in the call.
Gonzalez tabled 6♣5♣ for a flush and his opponent mucked his hand.
A player opened to 1,300 from middle position and then called after Jon Kyte three-bet to 4,000 from the cutoff.
Action checked through the Q♠9♠A♠ flop to the 5♦ turn at which point the middle position player checked once more. Kyte bet 4,000, forcing a fold from his opponent. "Good fold" remarked Kyte as showed the table A♣K♠ for the flopped top-top with the nut flush draw.
