Alex Kulev opened the cutoff to 6,000 and was three-bet by the big blind to 25,000. Kulev then asked for a count of the big blind's stack and upon realizing the number, he four-bet to 55,000. The big blind snap-folded.
Three players checked all the way through a board of J♥10♣J♦6♥ to find the 9♥ river.
The big blind checked and Espen Jorstad under the gun bet 6,000. James Chen to his left raised to 20,000 and made the big blind fold, but Jorstad three-bet to 140,000.
Chen went into the tank, and eventually sent his cards into the muck.
Joey Weissman opened 5,500 under the gun and only Alex Kulev called from a couple of spots to his left.
The dealer spread a flop of 9♦3♥3♣ and Weissman check-called a bet of 5,500 from Kulev.
When the 7♦ hit the turn, Weissman checked once again before Kulev flung 35,500 across the line. This time Weissman surrendered the pot as his cards hit the muck.
Brandon Steven only had a few chips left in his stack and ended up committing them to the pot preflop from the small blind against Brandon Wilson in middle position.
Brandon Steven: Q♣4♣
Brandon Wilson: A♠7♥
Steven was behind and did not improve on the K♣8♥3♠5♠7♣ runout to hit the rail early on Day 1.
Picking up the action on the river, Chance Kornuth in middle position was involved in a hand with an opponent from under the gun.
With the board reading J♠2♦9♣10♣9♠ and around 90,000 already in the pot, the under the gun player led out for 66,500. Kornuth burned through a time extension before announcing all in, covering his opponent, who had roughly 140,000 behind. The under the gun player went deep into the tank, also using a time extension before eventually making the call holding K♥Q♥.
Kornuth turned over K♦Q♠ and the two players chopped up the pot with the identical straight.
A full board of 6♠2♣9♠2♥K♥ was showing and with 40,000 chips in the pot, Nacho Barbero bet 21,000. Tobias Schwecht was in the next seat who called, and the big blind folded.
Barbero tabled 3♠3♣ but Schwecht had the winner with a pair of nines holding 9♥7♥.
