Action was picked up after the second draw in a blind-on-blind battle between Nacho Barbero in the small blind and Marco Johnson in the big blind.
Barbero led with a bet, Johnson raised, and Barbero called.
Both stood pat on the final draw. Barbero checked, Johnson bet, Barbero raised, and Johnson called.
Barbero revealed 7x6x4x3x2x for #2 to scoop the pot.
Brian Tate opened from the button and Christopher Chung defended from the big blind, drawing one while Tate drew three.
After the first draw Chung checked, Tate bet and Chung called. This time both players drew one.
Chung took the lead with a bet after the second draw and was called by Tate. Both players stood pat and checked with no draws remaining.
Chung tabled 8x6x5x4x3x and Tate mucked.
Juan Lopez opened the hijack and William McMahan called on the button.
Lopez drew one, and McMahan drew three and called a bet.
On the second draw, Lopez stood pat and McMahan took two. Lopez bet, McMahan raised, and Lopez called.
Both stood pat on the final draw and Lopez check-called a bet from McMahan.
McMahan announced he had a nine while Lopez revealed 8x7x6x5x2x to win the pot
Walter Chambers stood pat on the second draw while Jeremy Ausmus took two. Chambers then bet from the small blind.
Ausmus came back with a raise from the cutoff and Chambers reraised. Ausmus called and both players stood pat.
Chambers bet again and Ausmus called, only to be shown 7x5x4x3x2x for a wheel.
"What a nice table. Two Euros and three Americans," Mike Thorpe said at the start of the day.
"I'm from Brazil," tablemate Yuri Dzivielevski corrected.
"Same thing," Thorpe replied.
Bryce Yockey and Daniel James, the lone Euro at the table, then went heads-up to the first draw where James drew one and Yockey took two. James then bet from the small blind and Yockey called on the button.
Both players drew one and James bet again. Yockey called and took one, while James stood pat.
James then bet and Yockey gave up his hand this time.
Benny Glaser limped in from the small blind and Nacho Barbero checked from the big blind. Both players drew three and checked. On the second draw Glaser drew two while Barbero took three again.
After the second draw Barbero called a bet from Glaser. This time both players drew one.
With no draws remaining Glaser bet again and was called by Barbero.
Glaser tabled 7x6x5x3x2x for the third-best possible hand to take the pot.
Naoya Kihara was still stacking up his massive stack when he got involved in an early pot against Danny Noam.
Both players drew one on the second draw and Noam bet from the cutoff. Kihara called in the big blind.
Kihara took one more on the last draw while Noam stood pat. Kihara then led out with a bet and Noam called.
Kihara showed 8x7x4x3x2x and Noam mucked.
Players are in their seats and Day 2 is now underway.
