2023 World Series of Poker
Nível: 29
Blinds: 60,000/120,000
Ante: 120,000
Zlatin Penev limped in from the cutoff and Junhao Wu opted to check in the big blind.
They both checked through the 7♦3♣5♥ flop to the J♣ on the turn. Wu bet 325,000 for Penev to call.
The river completed the board with the Q♣ and Wu shoved. Penev called with the Q♦J♦ for two pair for Wu to get up as he held the 10♣6♦ for the bluff.
Justin Kindred raised to 225,000 from the button and Junhao three-bet jammed from the small blind for 635,000. The big blind folded and Kindred called.
Junhao Wu: A♦8♥
Justin Kindred: K♣5♦
The board ran out 3♦6♠2♠J♠10♠ for Wu to hold with the ace-kicker and double up.
In a battle of the blinds Ramon Fernandez was in the small blind and raised to 200,000 and Kartik Ved made the call in the big blind. The flop came out Q♣7♣A♦. Fernandez made the continuation bet of 400,000 and Ved made the call.
The turn brought the 3♥ and both players checked.
On the river 10♠ Fernandez bet out 600,000 and Ved made the call. Fernandez showed Q♥K♥ for the pair of queens and Ved mucked.
Derek Normand opened to 200,000 from early position and action folded around to Shashank Jain in the big blind who then moved all in for 1,050,000.
James Anderson then moved all in over the top and Normand went into the tank.
"Agh, this would be so much easier if it was just me and you," Normand said aloud in Jain's direction.
After thinking for another thirty seconds, he announced a fold and the cards were tabled.
Shashank Jain: A♠K♣
James Anderson: A♦Q♠
"See, that's exactly what I didn't want to see! I had pocket eights!" Normand was kicking himself.
He wouldn't kick himself for long, however, as the flop came out A♥Q♣7♥ to immediately give Anderson the lead with top two pair. Jain would need a to hit a king or running jack-ten to win, but the runout of 9♦5♣ did not do it for him and he was sent to the rail in 20th place.
Ramon Fernandez raised to 200,000 from the hijack position and Nick Palma moved all in from the small blind for 470,000. Fernandez made the call.
Nick Palma:Q♣J♦
Ramon Fernandez: J♥10♥
Palma was ahead preflop and the board came Q♦K♠6♥A♠3♦ and Fernandez hit the straight for the win and the knockout.
Before the flop, Justin Kindred and Marco Bognanni managed to get all of of their chips into the middle, with Kindred covering.
Marco Bognanni: J♣J♥
Justin Kindred: Q♣Q♦
Bognanni would need a lot of help to escape this cooler, but the flop of 9♣2♣Q♥ left him drawing very slim. The turn 4♦ left him drawing dead and the 10♣ on the river sent him to the rail in 22nd place.
Short-stacked George Janssen moved all in preflop for around 900,000 and was called by Derek Normand to put him at risk.
George Janssen: A♠Q♦
Derek Normand: 9♦9♠
Janssen would need some help to stay alive, but the runout of J♠10♣3♣7♥5♣ did him no favors and he was eliminated in 23rd place.
Galen Hall moved almost all of his chips in preflop under the gun, retaining one red chip, and Daniel Schill called in the small blind.
The flop came out 6♣7♣A♣ and Schill through in 100,000 to put Hall all in who made the call with his last 5,000.
Galen Hall: J♣Q♠
Daniel Schill: A♦9♦
The turn and river were 2♥Q♥ and although Hall called for the club it did not come and Schill won the pot and moved up the ladder.
