Anthony Marsico raised to 400,000 right before the blinds had moved up and Jonas Kronwitter defended the big blind. On a A♦Q♦8♣ flop, Kronwitter checked and Marsico continued for 550,000. Kronwitter then check-jammed for 2,130,000 and Marsico folded.
Tyler Smith raised to 400,000 from middle position. The action then folded to Matthew Wantman in the small blind who three-bet to 1,360,000, around half of his remaining stack.
"All in", said Smith, who still played heaps of chips. Wantman instantly put in the extra chips and made the call.
Matthew Wantman: A♣K♦J♣7♥
Tyler Smith: A♦A♠K♠2♠
Smith's aces flopped two pair on 5♦Q♦5♠, solidifying his lead. Wantman was dead when the 4♥ turn arrived, and he took his payout voucher as the 2♣ river hit the felt.
Krasimir Yankov raised to 560,000 from early position and Ian Matakis called in the big blind.
The flop came 4♠7♦8♣ and Matakis led out for around 700,000. Yankov then moved all in for 900,000 and Matakis called.
Krasimir Yankov: A♥K♥7♥5♥
Ian Matakis: Q♦10♦4♣3♠
Yankov was ahead with a pair of sevens as the 5♦ turn improved him to two pair. The river came the 10♥ and Yankov began pulling his chips back believing he won the hand before it was pointed out Matakis had rivered tens and fours to send him to the payout desk.
Ian Matakis raised to 560,000 and earned the blinds as well as big blind ante.
Jesse Lonis then raised to 420,000 from under the gun and Matakis used one time bank extension before folding, all other players behind followed suit.
Adam Hendrix potted to 480,000 out of the small blind next and Lonis repotted to 1,440,000. The call by Hendrix followed and he left himself 80,000 behind. On the 10♠5♥3♠ flop, Hendrix check-called all-in for the following showdown.
Adam Hendrix: K♠J♣9♣9♥
Jesse Lonis: A♣K♣J♦8♠
The 4♠ turn and 6♣ river changed nothing and Hendrix doubled with his lone pair of nines.
"This is a fun game," Hendrix grinned and Krasimir Yankov chimed in with a "better than Texas [Hold'em].
"What ya gonna do?!" Lonis replied, still with a smirk on the face.
Matthew Wantman, Kabeelan Rajamurthy, and Jonas Kronwitter each checked the K♥10♠2♠ flop as the 8♦ fell on the turn.
Kronwitter now led out for 250,000 and Rajamurthy folded, while Wantman called. The river came the 2♥ and Kronwitter checked.
Wantman fired out 730,000 and Kronwitter asked the dealer how much was in the pot. The dealer replied that they couldn't reveal that information with action pending and Kronwitter then asked for the floor to be called over.
A tournament official then ruled he was allowed to know how much was in the pot with action pending on him, but Kronwitter decided to let his hand go.
"That ruling saved one of us a lot of money. Because I was going to raise the river before that," Kronwitter told Wantman.
Adam Hendrix raised to the maximum allowed amount of 560,000 from the cutoff, leaving himself around 150,000 behind. The action folded to Isaac Haxton in the small blind, who announced "pot." Hendrix then put in his final few chips and was at risk to be next elimination.
Adam Hendrix: A♥K♣5♠4♦
Isaac Haxton: A♣Q♥J♦2♣
Hendrix flopped a wheel straight away on 4♠3♥2♠. Haxton was drawing to a chop, but it did not arrive on the 3♣6♣ runout, putting Hendrix right back in contention.
