Teska Escapes in Spectacular Fashion; Leaves Zhou on Fumes

Nível 27 : Blinds 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante
Roger Teska
Roger Teska

In the first hand after the dinner break, Andjelko Andrejevic limped in from the cutoff and Roger Teska raised the pot to 900,000 in the cutoff. Quan Zhou called out of the big blind and Andrejevic also came along.

Three ways to the 964 flop, Zhou bet the pot for 3,000,000 and Andrejevic folded while Teska called all-in for 2,750,000.

Roger Teska: AA73
Quan Zhou: K1096

Teska had aces with a gutshot while Zhou was ahead with the top two pair and a flush draw.

Nothing changed with the J turn but the 4 river paired the board, counterfeiting Zhou's hand in brutal fashion. Teska doubled for 2,750,000 and Zhou was left with fewer than three big blinds.

Negreanu Proposes Changes to the Poker Hall of Fame Induction Process

Nível 26 : Blinds 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey

With its ever-growing backlog of deserving players and industry professionals waiting for their time to be inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame, some players are calling for changes to the nomination and induction process.
One of those players is Daniel Negreanu, poker's biggest ambassador and himself a member of the Poker Hall of Fame who was inducted in 2014. Negreanu has long called for overhauls to the Poker Hall of Fame nomination process and renewed his calls this week on his daily vlog during the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP).
"How I would fix the Hall of Fame is this: every single year, two players get in — players, not contributors," Negreanu told his vlog viewers. "Every single year, two players get in. Every third year ... we add an additional third person who is a contributor to the game. That would be the Isai Scheinbergs and the Matt Savages of the world. Every three years, one of them would get in. That way, we don't have to constantly compare apples to oranges."

In what appeared to be just the third hand of the final table, Ka Kwan Lau raised to 480,000 in the small blind. Jeremy Ausmus defended the big blind and Lau bet the AJ5 flop for 500,000, earning a call from Ausmus.

That led them to the 2 turn on which Lau opted to check. Ausmus asked for the size of the pot and bet 1,300,000 into 2,120,000. Lau used a time bank extension and then check-raised the pot for more than six million in chips.

Ausmus gave it a few seconds before moving all-in and Lau snap called.

Jeremy Ausmus: JJ105
Ka Kwan Lau: AAA6

Lau was ahead with the top set while Ausmus had just one out with the case jack. There was no miracle on the 6 river and Ausmus, who had been sitting in fourth place at the time, was eliminated in eighth place for $209,392.

Nível 26 : Blinds 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Dylan Weisman
Dylan Weisman

Sergio Martinez Gonzalez opened to 560,000 from the button and Dylan Weisman made the call from the big blind.

The flop came out 875 and Weisman led out for 400,000 and Gonzalez made the call to see the J on the turn.

Weisman then bet the full pot of 1,600,000 but then Gonzalez repotted it.

"Did he just repot? Okay, I'm all in," Weisman announced as all the chips got into the middle of this massive pot with Weisman at risk.

Dylan Weisman: JJ109
Sergio Martinez Gonzalez: AQ1010

"What does he have?" Weisman asked, puzzled, "Okay, no spade!"

But as soon as the words were out of his mouth, the K smacked down on the river to give Gonzalez a flush.

"Vamos!" Gonzalez yelled as the huge pot was pushed his way and Weisman was eliminated in 10th place.

Haxton checked the 1075 flop and Ausmus bet 800,000 before then glancing over at the other table. Haxton, likewise, looked over and asked if there was a pay jump before he called all-in for two and a half blinds.

Isaac Haxton: JJ92
Jeremy Ausmus: AAK9

Haxton bricked the 3 turn and 4 river to bow out in 11th place.
