The final 14 players will return to Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas with a shot at victory as there are no real super short stacks, giving everyone a real chance at WSOP glory. The shortest two stacks of Lucas Lew (11,675,000) and Steven Genovese (11,425,000) will still come in with 19 blinds and it became very clear late in Day 2 that none of these players are willing to give anything away.
The record-breaking event, which saw 4,303 entries pay their $500, creating a prize pool of $1,936,350, for a shot at WSOP glory and to help support the USO and other veterans organizations, smashed the entry numbers from last year as 3,209 entries took part in the 2022 edition with James Todd taking home the bracelet and $121,161.
Action will begin at 10 a.m. local time in Level 35 with blinds of 300,000/600,000 and a big blind ante of 600,000. Play will continue until a winner is crowned, so make sure to stay here at PokerNews for coverage of all the action in this and all events of the 2023 World Series of Poker!

In the first hand of the day, Ryan Stephens raised to 1,200,000 on the button. Rajesh Goyal three-bet shoved all in for 9,800,000 from the small blind and Stephens followed with a quick call.
Rajesh Goyal: A♠8♠
Ryan Stephens: 6♠6♦
Stephens flopped Goyal nearly dead on the J♠6♥4♦ flop, but a potential backdoor straight opened up on the 7♦ turn. The river, however, was the 4♠ and Goyal tapped the table before making his departure.

Gall checked over to Lew who continued with a bet of 1,200,000. Gall called to bring out the 3♥ on the turn
Gall checked to Lew again who tossed out a bet of 3,000,000. Gall counted out a check-raise to 7,200,000 and Lew quickly jammed. Gall snap-called and sent both players to a two card runout with Lew's tournament life at risk.
Lucas Lew: A♣8♠
Kelly Gall: 7♦5♦
When the cards were turned up, Lew got the unfortunate news that he was drawing dead as Gall had flopped the nut straight.
The dealer put out the inconsequential 6♠ on the river and made Lew's exit official as he headed to the payout desk in 12th place for $12,443.

Will Butcher raised to 1,600,000 on the button and Michael Lin defended the big blind. The flop was K♦Q♠6♣ and Lin check-called 1,400,000 from Butcher.
The turn brought the A♦ and Lin checked a second time. Butcher didn't waste much time before announcing "All-in," sliding his remaining stack of nearly 7,000,000 in the middle.
Lin, who was covered by Butcher albeit not by much, gave it about two minutes of thought before calling it off.
Michael Lin: K♠Q♥
Will Butcher: A♥8♥
Lin was ahead with his kings and queens but Butcher drilled the 6♥ on the river for aces up to send Lin to the rail.
