The action was back on Fuhs who four-bet jammed for 17,000 and the player in middle position got out of the way.

Kirkpatrick King of the Table

As retold by the players Brian Kirkpatrick had been hitting everything and running over the table. Despite that, the mood was very good at the table with a lot of laughter and joking.

Michael Martin was in middle position and raised to 600 and Brian Kirkpatrick called from the button.

The flop came out 6♦8♥9♦ and Martin came out firing with 2,400 and Kirkpatrick flat called.

The turn brought the K♣ and Martin continued with his aggression and bet 4,000 and Kirkpatrick called again.

The river was the 6♠ and Martin bet out 6,000 and Kirkpatrick suddenly came to life and raised to 15,000 and Martin called.

Martin tabled 5♠7♠ for the straight and Kirkpatrick showed K♦K♠ for the full house.

Martin stated: "I did not put him on that!"

Todd Ignarski stated: "I have been the only person at this table to win a pot against the chip leader".

"Bucket List Event": Moneymaker Makes WSOP $50k Poker Players Championship Debut

Twenty years after his defining victory in the 2003 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event that ignited the Poker Boom, Chris Moneymaker came to Las Vegas looking to further his already cemented status as one of the most important figures in poker history.

Only 27 years old at the time, Moneymaker spun a $40 satellite victory into $2.5 million in perhaps the most memorable and consequential WSOP victory of all time. Now a household name in poker, Moneymaker has now put up a $50,000 buy-in — the biggest of his two-decade poker career — to play the prestigious WSOP Poker Players Championship for the first time at the 2023 WSOP.

PokerNews spoke with Moneymaker during Day 1 on June 18 as he battled against the likes of Daniel Negreanu, Josh Arieh and two-time defending champion Dan "Jungleman" Cates, all of whom were seated at the 2003 Main Event champion's table.

Liu Gets There

Action was picked up on a 9♠Q♠2♠ flop where an early position player checked it over to J.J. Liu, who put out a bet of 1,700. The early position player called.

The 10♣ turn checked through and the river landed a J♣. The player in early position checked one more time and Liu put out one more bet of 2,000. The player in early position quickly called.

Liu rolled over 8♣8♥ for the bottom end of the straight and the player in early position sent his cards to the muck.

Kimmel Smashes the Flop

Action folded to Daniel Kimmel in middle position who opened to 1,400. The cutoff called and the big blind defended.

The A♥9♠10♠ flop hit the felt and the action checked all the way to the cutoff who bet 2,400. The big blind folded but Kimmel took a moment before check-raising all in for 5,200. The player in late position only needed to call an additional 2,800 and stuck in the chips.

The hands were tabled.

The cutoff was calling for a jack but it would not come on the 10♣ turn or 9♣ river and Kimmel would scoop the pot to get a pure double and keep his tournament alive.

Quarto Having a Good Start

The player under the gun limped and an early position player raised to 600. The hijack, Roslyn Quarto and the button came along for the ride.

The flop was 4♠Q♠7♣ and the early position player bet 2,000 and everyone called.

The turn was the 10♦ and, once checked to, Quarto bet out 13,000. The button player contemplated for a minute and it looked like he was about to go all-in but then just called and everyone else folded.

The river was the K♦ and Quarto shoved her stack in, which was superior to the button's stack, and he called and attempted to muck once Quarto turned over her hand and showed the set. The button was forced to show his cards.

Roslyn Quarto: 4♠4♥

Elsewhere Grammy winner Anthony Mercedes aka Tony Mercedes is holding his own with 33,000 in chips.
