Dia 1b Iniciado
The excitement is in the air, as Day 1b of Event #39: $1,500 Monster Stack No-Limit Hold’em kicks off at 10 a.m. local time at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.
And the anticipation is warranted coming on the heels of Day 1a, which drew a head-turning 3,945 entrants to exceed last year’s pool of 2,947 players. Day 1a generated a prize pool of $5,266,575, and saw a total of 1,242 players bag for Sunday's Day 2.
Those figures can only go up on Day 1b, as the player pool expands for an encore of the previous day, which brought plenty of energy and competition.
Pavlin Kanakikov led the charge on Day 1a, bagging an impressive 593,500 to lead a pack of 11 total players to top the 500,000 mark. WSOP bracelet winner Pei Li also made a run to the Top 25 by totaling 464,000.

Here we go in the $1500 #MonsterStack, #WSOP #Event39. To be clear, after some waffling, I decided not to enter flight A yesterday so I'm firing my one and only bullet in this one today. https://t.co/AXw53GKG0Z

With 14,000 in the middle at the turn with a board of K♣10♠9♣3♠, the cutoff bet 2,100 and was called by the under-the-gun player and Elias Kiwan in early position.
The 6♦ landed on the river and the cutoff bet 6,000. The under-the-gun player folded and Kiwan made the call. The cutoff tabled A♦K♦ for top pair/top kicker, but Kiwan flipped over 8♥7♥ for a ten-high straight to scoop the pot.

On a heads-up completed board of 2♦7♠Q♣7♦9♣, a player bet 6,100 into a pot of 32,000 and then Mike Holm moved all in to cover.
The original raiser went deep into the tank, clearly distraught with such a decision this early in the tournament.
"Man, I think you flopped a set, but I don't know if I can fold aces here," he admitted and flashed A♣A♠. The dealer informed him that he would incur a penalty for exposing his cards unless he killed his hand.
"Screw it, I'll take the penalty, I call!" he announced as he flipped over his aces, but then Holm showed 7♣7♥ for quads to scoop the huge pot while his opponent was sent away fuming.

The under-the-gun player bet 600 and was met with a raise by Katie Swift in middle position for 1,900.
Action folded back to under the gun, who took a moment before folding to the accomplished British player.
