Makkar Gets One Through?

Nível 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Daniel Negreanu raised to 3,000 in middle position and was called by Rishi Makkar, directly to his left. The player in the high jack then squeezed to 11,000. It appeared that the dealer pulled in the blinds, as Negreanu called out of turn before realizing that the player in the blind was still debating their decision. It's possible Negreanu's mistake affected the blind's decision, as he eventually settled on a call.

Negreanu called officially now, as did the player to his left. Four ways to a flop they saw 84J. All players checked.

The turn brought the 8 and the small blind checked, as did Negreanu, Makkar then led out for 10,500 and got folds from the table. After they had all mucked, Makkar showed AxJx10x10x with no spades, baffling his opponents.

Tough Call for Da Costa

Nível 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Three players saw the QJ4 flop for 4,000 a piece and the action checked through to the 5 turn.

Once checked to, Forian Da Costa put out a bet of 3,500, and only the button called.

The 3 completed the board, and Da Costa checked before the button put out a bet of 23,000. Da Costa tanked for about a minute and dropped the chips to call.

The button looked disappointed as he tabled A1096 and Da Costa took it down when he showed 8653 for two pair.

"Wow, that was a hero call," Said a table mate as Da Costa dragged the pot.

Liu Doubles Through Anderson

Nível 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Calvin Anderson raised to 2,500 under the gun and Renmei Liu three-bet all in next to act and the rest of the table quickly mucked as Anderson called.

Renmei Liu: AKKJ
Calvin Anderson: 8844

The KJ3 flop almost guaranteed the double-up for Liu as he flopped top set. The 4 turn gave Anderson some life as he picked up an out but the 9 river wasn't it as Liu collected the pot.

Joseph Altomonte
Joseph Altomonte

The under-the-gun player raised to 2,600 before the player next to act dropped a stack of 5,000 chips across the line for a raise to 9,600. Joseph Altomonte was on the button and moved in for his 18,000 before Carlos Caldas announced "gamble city," and called off his 10,800.

The original raiser folded and the three-bettor instantly called.

Carlos Caldas: QJ104
Joseph Altomonte: KKJ8
Third Player: AAK8

The board ran out Q6348, for Caldas to make two pair and triple up, while the 2023 $600 Pot-Limit Omaha champion Altomonte was eliminated.

Kamikaze Triple Up

Nível 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Allen Kessler
Allen Kessler

There was a raise from Farhad Jamas in early position that Allen Kessler just called on the button. Sean "Death Mission" Shah then squeezed all-in with his short stack and both Jamas and Kessler got it in as well. Jamas was the covering player and Kessler only had a smidge more than Shah, who was at risk.

At this point Kessler waved PokerNews over, preemptively bemoaning an upcoming bad beat. "This death wish guy is just trying to dust it off!"

Cards were on their backs.

Sean Shah: A7109
Allen Kessler: KKJ6
Farhad Jamas: KK43

The board ran out, 1073 and this only fueled Kessler's tirade as he said, "Of course he gets there, I knew you were trying to give it away." To this Shah responded, "It's a $1k, Allen, what do you want from me?! I didn't say it was good."

The turn was the 5 and gave Kessler a worse flush draw than Shah. The river bricked a J and Allen continued, "I had a perfect read on him, that's why I just called the button because I knew this guy couldn't control himself!"

"No, I can't control myself...", said Shah as he stacked the pot.

Kessler remained agitated as he was left with only two big blinds. The rest of the table was rather amused by the situation and continued on jovially.
