Chan Gets Put to the Test

WIth 15,000 in the middle on the A♥J♠8♥ flop, Johnny Chan checked to his opponent on the button who fired a bet of 7,000 and he made the call.

The 4♥ hit the turn, and Chan check-called once again, this time for 12,000.

When the A♦ paired the board on the river Chan checked for a final time. His opponent asked how much he had left and Chan pointed at his stack of 25,000. His opponent bet exactly that and Chan went deep into the tank. After about three minutes Chan dropped the chips across the line to make the call.

"Good call," Said his opponent, "Just an ace."

The opponent flashed the A♠ before mucking and Chan tabled Q♥10♥10♦7♣ for a flush to earn the double up.

Shulman's Continuation Gets the Pot

TJ Shulman raised to 6,000 in the cutoff and Leonid Yanovski folded the button before the big blind made the call.

The dealer fanned a flop of 8♦4♠4♣ and the big blind quickly check-folded to Shulman's continuation bet of 8,000.

Negreanu Makes a Set

A raise from late position garnered a call from Daniel Negreanu in small, as well as the big blind.

The flop came 4♣J♠5♥ and checked through.

The turn brought the 8♣, the small blind checked and now Negreanu bet 10,500, the size of the pot. The initial raiser folded, as did the small blind and Negreanu said, "Sneaky, sneakkkyyy." and showed the J♦J♥ for a flopped set.

Negreanu was overheard saying he really hopes the Golden Knights win out to avoid any additional games, as it would mess with his WSOP schedule and hunt for Player of the Year.

Foxen Finds a Double

With about 20,000 in the middle the flop read 10♠10♥6♦ and Alex Foxen pushed his last 5,000 into the middle and Michael Dentale instantly called.

Foxen had flopped trip tens and improved to a full house as the board completed with the Q♣ on the turn and the 7♠ on the river.

Chan Busts Before Break

Johnny Chan was spotted in the field just before the break, but upon returning from dinner he'd been replaced by someone else.

The dealer at the table was kind enough to let us know that he had one-outed Chan on the river.

Chan had flopped bottom set against the nut flush and when the board paired, the entire table thought the river would be a formality. When the river came, however, it upgraded the players flush to a straight flush and the table realized what happened when the dealer presented the winning hand.

Chan is expected to have been one of the last players in the late registration line but it has yet to be confirmed if he's back in the field.

Habegger Rivers Two Pair

Fernando 'JNandez' Habegger raised in middle position to 4,000 and the button called before Kenny Hallaert mucked the small blind and Christopher Lee folded in the big blind.

The dealer fanned a flop of K♦8♣3♠ and Habegger continued for 8,000 which was called.

When the A♦ hit the turn, Habegger fired again, this time for 16,000, and was called once again.

The 9♥ completed the board on the river and Habegger slowed down, checking this time and his opponent hesitated before checking back.

Habegger announced two pair as he tabled 9♦8♠7♥6♦ and his opponent mucked his hand.

Calvin Anderson raised in early position before Jonathan Hutson three-bet to 17,500. Esther Taylor was in the big blind and called as did Anderson.

As soon as the flop came K♠J♠8♦, Taylor pushed her entire stack of 44,500 across the line. Anderson called off his remaining 38,000 and Hutson called for 44,000.

Calvin Anderson: A♠K♦5♦4♠
Esther Taylor: K♥J♥10♠9♠
Jonathan Hutson: A♣10♥9♣7♥

All three players connected with the board as Hutson flopped a wrap, Anderson flopped top pair nut flush draw and Taylor flopped two pair, open-ended and a smaller flush draw.

The 5♣ turn and 2♣ river were bricks as Taylor's two pair held to scoop the pot and eliminate both opponents.
