Stagg Stacks Opponent with Rivered Straight

Nível 30 : Blinds 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante

Shawn Stagg was involved in a hand against an opponent that started off innocently enough without fireworks.

The flop, however, brought excitement.

On a board of 7105, Stagg’s opponent bet, and then Stagg, one of the largest stacks at his table, moved all in. The action returned to Stagg’s opponent, who took a few moments before making the call.

Stagg: 64
Opponent: J10

Stagg made the move on an open-ended straight draw, while his opponent held top pair. The turn didn’t help Stagg when Q arrived on the board, but he drilled one of his eight outs when 3 showed up to give Stagg the straight and pot.

Nível 30 : Blinds 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante

A short stack went all in from under the gun and when it folded to the big blind, Michael Teren quickly made the call and put the shorty at risk.

Under the Gun: Q9
Michael Perrin: KK

The flop brought a flush draw for the under the gun player but the turn and river were bricks, leaving Teren to add to his chip stack.

Give'em Hellmuth

Nível 29 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Cards were on their backs and a board of with an ace and a king on it was spotted just before the dealer scooped the cards and awarded Phil Hellmuth the pot.

Phil Hellmuth: AxKx
Opponent: AxQx

When a player out of the hand chirped something to Hellmuth he incredulously responded with, "You think I win all these tournaments on accident?"

Other players at the tables mentioned they'd have to buckle up for a long night now that Hellmuth doubled.

Aldaz Survives Blender

Nível 29 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Carlos "Scarf" Aladez found himself in the blender.

After raising 250,000 on the button, he faced an all-in from a player in the big blind. The move made Aldez uncomfortable as he squirmed multiple times in his chair, periodically glanced at his opponent’s stack and counted out his own chips. He also asked for a count, seeing his opponent had him covered.

Aldez went in the tank, peeking up multiple times at the scrolling payouts on the TV monitor above his table, and a player not involved in the hand eventually called for the clock. A tournament director came over and informed Aldez he had 30 seconds to act, and Aldez found it in him to make the call.

Aldez: A9
Opponent: K7

Aldez was ahead before the flop, and he took a commanding lead when the dealer fanned JA7 on the board. The dealer put A and 3 on the river, then pushed the pot to Aldez for a double up.
