The tension was palpable and two players were standing up with all-in buttons in front of them. When everyone else folded, the shorter of the two said, "I need diamonds!."
Neither player was ready to exit the tournament as they tabled their hands.
Short Stack: A♦4♦
Samara Alexandre: A♥10♥
Alexandre anxiously awaited the run out and held her breath while the flop rolled 7♣8♣2♥, the turn was the 4♠ and it wasn't until the K♦ hit the river that she breathed a sigh of relief and celebrated. She ran across to her opponent and gave them a hug, wishing them farewell before scurrying back to her seat to count her newly won chips.

Jefferson Guerrero raised in the cutoff and Brian Chanley defended his big blind.
The dealer fanned a flop of 8♠7♣6♣ and both players checked to see the 3♦. Chanley check-called a bet of 300,000 and the J♣ hit the river. Both players quickly knuckled the table and Chanley tabled 10♦7♥ for a pair of sevens but couldn't drag the pot as Guerrero showed A♠J♠.
The following hand Guerrero raised in the hijack and it folded to the big blind who only had a little less than 600,000 as he said, "I think I will just go all-in without looking." Then he proceeded to push the rest of the chips across the line and Guerrero made the call.
Big Blind: 5♠4♥
Jefferson Guerrero: Q♣J♠
"Not bad," said the big blind as he saw he had two live cards.
The board of A♥Q♠3♣A♠K♥ paired Guerrero's queen as he sent the big blind to the payout desk.

Phil Hellmuth was down to less than five big blinds when he bet 600,000 in late position. Charles Hawes, one of the big stacks at the table, was at the hijack position and made the call. The button and blinds folded.
The dealer placed 9♥3♠3♣ on the board, leading to Hellmuth checking with less than 400,000 behind. Hawes bet enough to put Hellmuth’s tournament at stake, and Hellmuth quickly called.

The 16-time WSOP bracelet winner needed help to stay alive, but K♠ on the turn and 9♣ sent him to the rail in 47th place for a payout of $7,385.
Hellmuth’s quest to secure a record 17th WSOP bracelet will need to wait for another event.

The small blind limped to Olga Iermolcheva, she checked her option, allowing the dealer to reveal10♣8♥9♣.
The small blind tapped the table and Iermolcheva bet 175,000. Her opponent called and they both saw the 2♣ on the turn, bringing in the flush draw. Another table tap and she bet to a tune of 525,000 this time, again receiving a call.
The river was the 10♠ and, after one last check, Iermolcheva thought a bit and checked. Her opponent showed the 10x6x and she mucked her hand.
This left Iermolcheva short for the first time on Day 2.

Phil Hellmuth returned from break with 1,300,000 in front of him and the 16-time WSOP bracelet winner didn’t waste time getting it in.
Hellmuth moved all in from under the gun, and action folded around to a player in the small blind, who was down to 325,000 and called. The cards were tabled after the big blind folded.
Hellmuth: A♥J♦
Opponent: 4♣4♥
The dealer fanned J♣Q♠J♥ on the flop, giving Hellmuth trips and leaving his opponent in a bad spot needing lots of help by the river. The help didn’t arrive, though, as 2♦ on the turn and 3♣ on the river game Hellmuth the pot.
Nevertheless, the 325,000 and 400,000 combined from the big blind and ante added chips to Hellmuth’s stack.
