One For Former NFL Great Winfield

Nível 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante
Antoine Winfield
Antoine Winfield

Antoine Winfield is known for his ability on the gridiron, but he's putting his grinding skills to the test here in the Main Event.

With 800 in the middle on the {10-Spades}{k-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop, the small blind led for 500 and Winfield called.

The turn brought the {3-Hearts} and Winfield called another 2,000 from the small blind.

On the {q-Clubs} river, the small blind slowed down with a check and Winfield pounced on that like he would an errant throw from a quarterback. Winfield fired out 5,000 and the small blind gave it up.

He's just under-starting stack in the early hours of the day.

2021 Main Event Day 1F Chip Leader Walton Enjoying Sizzling Start

Nível 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante
Adam Walton
Adam Walton

With 15,000 in the middle on a {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{5-Spades} board, the cutoff bet 7,000.

Adam Walton, sitting in early position, put his opponent all in. The cutoff, who had approximately 43,000 behind, contemplated for just under two minutes before finally making the call.

Walton flashed {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} for a full house, rivering the best hand against his opponent's {q-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for a flopped straight.

Adam Walton was the Day 1F chip leader in last year's Main Event and is looking to get off to a similar start in 2022. Walton ended up finishing in 42nd place and taking home $163,900.

Lunkin Avoids Disaster In Set-Over-Set Situation

Nível 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante
Vitaly Lunkin
Vitaly Lunkin

There was already 5,000 in the pot on the {4-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades} flop and Matthew Davenport bet 1,800 from middle position.

Russian pro, Vitaly Lunkin called and American pro, Matt Stout, got out of the way.

The turn brought the {5-Clubs} and Davenport checked. Lunkin fired out 2,500 and Davenport called.

On the {a-Clubs} river the action went check-check.

Davenport showed {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} a set of sixes and Lunkin flashed {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} for a set of fours as his hand went into the muck.

Lunkin avoided potential disaster on the flop by just calling and he remains above his starting stack early.

Margets Turns Quads, Can't Get Paid from Seidel

Nível 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante
Leo Margets
Leo Margets

It folded around to Leo Margets who called from the small blind. Erik Seidel would check his option.

The flop came {6-Spades}{a-Spades}{a-Hearts} and both players tapped the table.

The {a-Diamonds} came on the turn and Margets flicked in a yellow chip worth 1,000. Seidel snap-folded.

Margets would turn over the {a-Clubs} showing she had turned quads and everyone, including Seidel, had a nice laugh.

Foxen Gone

Nível 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante
Kristen Foxen
Kristen Foxen

A player in the cutoff opened to 1,000 and was called by the button as well as Kristen Foxen out of the big blind.

On a flop of {6-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds} Foxen moved all in for her last 2,800. "Please don't let me bust, I would be so sad if I busted," Foxen said to her two opponents. The cutoff did in fact call while the button folded to put Foxen at risk.

Kristen Foxen: {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Cutoff Player: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

Foxen immediately tabled her holding but the cutoff player took his time turning his cards over, much to the frustration of Foxen, who commented "just show your hand, you're gonna have to show it anyway". In any event, Foxen was well behind and was left drawing to just two outs following the {5-Hearts} turn. She found no further help on the {10-Spades} river, sending her to the rail prior to the dinner break.

Wendeen Eolis
Wendeen Eolis

Wendeen Eolis is in the field for Day 1b of the Main Event.

She was famously the first woman to ever cash in the Main Event in 1986 when she finished 25th.

You can read a featured article about her here.

Eolis continued to be a pioneer for women in poker in the years after. She has chipped up in the early going here just before dinner.

Alex Foxen
Alex Foxen

The field has been sent on a 75-minute dinner break. When they return, blinds will be 300/500 with a 500 big blind ante at which point play will continue for two more levels before the survivors bag for the night.

Action picked up somewhat during Level 3, with a handful of notable bustouts alongside tough calls and some even tougher folds. Andreas Kniep continues to ascend and is one of the first players in the flight to crack the 200,000 mark while elsewhere Alex Foxen is busy building a stack. Below are some of the highlights from the past two hours.

Banducci Still Stacking

Nível 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Michael Banducci
Michael Banducci

The flop read {j-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{9-Spades} with four players in a hand. Michael Banducci bet 3,500. The button called, the small blind folded and an early position player called also.

Three-way action went to the turn which was the {4-Spades}. Banducci bet 8,000 which was enough to clear the flotsam and jetsam and win himself another pot to move his stack close to the 300,000 mark,
