Day 1 of Event #79: $1,979 Poker Hall Of Fame Bounty No-Limit Hold’em has ended. The tournament drew 865 entries to create a prizepool of $1,495,363. At the end of the night, just 139 of those entries remained.

The unique format of this tournament with bounties for each Poker Hall of Famer created the dynamic of players aiming for the large bounties that covered the buy in.

At the end of the night, just two Hall of Famers remained, Barry Greenstein, who had a large stack about midway through the day and was able to finish with 327,000 and Barbara Enright, who stayed steady throughout the day and ended with 224,000.

Several of the Hall of Famers bit the dust to give their bounty to a player in the field.

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Ross Denny raised from middle position, Daniel Negreanu jammed all in for a smidge over 26,000 from the cutoff. Ray Henson had Negreanu slightly covered with 27,200 on the button and rejammed. Denny tanked for a bit before calling to give himself the chance to knock out both and capture the bounty.

Daniel Negreanu: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Ray Henson: {q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}
Ross Denny: {q-Spades}{10-Spades}

Negreanu started to record the all in and it looked like another bad beat story was coming as the flop came {4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} to pair Henson's three. But the turn was the {a-Spades} to turn the tables and the river came the {10-Clubs} to give Negreanu the triple-up, bust Henson, and deny any bounty collection.

Greenberg Collects $2,019 Bounty After Busting Moneymaker

Nível 4 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante
Larry Greenberg
Larry Greenberg

Chris Moneymaker was seen walking away as he had just been busted after a four-way all in.

Lawrence Greenberg had previously doubled through Moneymaker when his {a-}{8-} cracked the {q-}{q-} of Moneymaker.

Moneymaker was left short and was all in with the {a-}{10-}. Greenberg held the {5-}{4-} suited. Two others players were in there, one holding the {a-}{q-} and one held the {a-}{8-}.

The board showed {8-}{2-}{7-}{2-}{4-}, giving Greenberg the rivered pair and therefore the winning hand to bust all three players, most importantly the bounty of Moneymaker which is $2,019 from the year he was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame.

Day 1 of Event #76: $1,979 Poker Hall Of Fame Bounty Set To Begin at 3 p.m. Local Time

Ole Schemion
Ole Schemion

Welcome to Day 1 of Event #79: $1,979 Poker Hall Of Fame Bounty No-Limit Hold’em of the 2022 World Series of Poker at Bally's and Paris Las Vegas. Day 1 of the two-day event is scheduled to kick off on Sunday, July 10th, at 3:00 p.m. local time in the Paris Ballroom Black and Purple sections.

This is a relatively new event for the 2022 World Series of Poker as it just started last year. Players will receive the year a Poker Hall of Famer was inducted in dollars from the prize pool for each one they eliminate. For example, Daniel Negreanu was inducted in 2014. Therefore, eliminating him would earn the winning player a $2,014 bounty. Players can redeem bounties after 8:00 p.m local time on Day 1.

The Poker Hall of Fame was established in 1979. Though the Hall of Fame is virtual in nature, its membership includes poker's most influential players and other important contributors to the game. There are 32 living members, and the honor of Poker Hall-of-Famer has been bestowed upon 60 individuals.

This event drew 468 entrants last year and generated a prizepool of $826,050 and 29-year old German pro Ole Schemion was the player who emerged victorious to claim the grand prize of $172,499.

Notable Hall of Famer’s such as Todd Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Barry Greenstein, Chris Moneymaker, and Scotty Nguyen have been spotted playing in some events this year at the 2022 World Series of Poker. Odds are high that a few of them will be playing this historic event.

All players will receive 30,000 starting chips and will play a total of 17 levels on Day 1, with each level lasting 40-minutes. There will be a 15-minute break every three levels and late registration will remain open until after Level 9 (~9:45).

Stay tuned for more coverage of this event and the entire 2022 World Series of Poker from the PokerNews Live Reporting Team.
