Jukich Cracks Aces

Blinds: 2,500/5,000/5,000

Before the break, Mike Jukich was all-in for around 90,000 against an opponent who had slightly less.

Opponent: {a-}{a-}
Mike Jukich: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

Jukich was in bad shape against his opponent's aces and didn't receive much help from the flop of {6-Spades}{q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}. The {7-Spades} gave him a gutshot and those at the table gasped in shock when the {8-Spades} peeled off on the river to give him a straight to crack his opponent's aces.

The recent $1,500 Monster Stack champion did not jump onto the table in celebration.

2022 WSOP Featured Females: Meet Wendeen Eolis, 1st Woman to Ever Cash Main Event

Wendeen Eolis
Wendeen Eolis

In the mid 1980’s, women were considered no factor in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event, and other than the famous rounder and professional gambler Thomas “Amarillo Slim” Preston, poker players rarely made headlines in the mainstream press. That all changed when Wendeen Eolis became the first woman to cash at poker’s “Big Dance.”

In the 1986 WSOP Main Event, Eolis battled some of the best players in the world, including Amarillo Slim, in a field of 141 runners. She was on her way to a 25th-place finish for a $10,000, return on her buy-in, and permanent bragging rights as the first woman in history to cash in the WSOP Main Event.

Eolis attributes her 1986 WSOP performance to a year of poker tutoring from one of the best, a “relatively” conservative game plan, and cooperative cards. She told PokerNews, “Even today, women can win more by bluffing less than men.”

Rafi Elharar
Rafi Elharar

Blinds: 2,500/5,000/5,000

Rafi Elharar opened to 10,000 in early position and the button flat-called before Joao Simao called from the small blind.

The flop of {j-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} checked through and Simao led out for 16,000 on the {8-Clubs} turn. Both opponents called. Simao checked on the {3-Spades} river and Elharar fired a bet of 28,000. The button folded and Simao took a moment before moving all in for around 90,000.

Elharar went into the tank for several minutes before putting in a call. Simao showed a bluff with {9-Clubs}{7-Spades} for nine-high and Elharar showed {a-Clubs}{k-Spades} to win the pot.

Matielo Takes From Nathan

Blinds: 2,000/4,000/4,000

Action was heads up with 16,000 in the middle and {5-Clubs}{j-Spades}{8-Clubs} on the board when Dyego Matielo checked from the small blind. Eric Nathan bet 3,000 from the big blind and Matielo called to see {5-Diamonds} on the turn.

Both players checked the turn and {2-Diamonds} dropped on the river. Matielo fired 13,000 and Nathan tossed in a chip to call.

"That's good," Nathan said as he mucked while Matielo turned over {k-Spades}{5-Spades} for three fives.

"Lady Gaga is Coming"

Ren Lin
Ren Lin

Blinds: 1,500/3,000/3,000

Ren Lin was all in for 49,000 from the small blind against a middle position player who had slightly less.

Opponent: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Ren Lin: {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

"Lady Gaga is coming!" Lin yelled as he anticipated hitting a queen.

The flop of {6-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{j-Hearts} was no help for Lin and he didn't improve on the {7-Hearts} turn.

"Where's my lady?" Lin asked before the dealer peeled off the {q-Clubs} on the river to win him the pot. "There she is!"
