Smile Learned From the Best

Nível 9 : 0/0, 1,200 ante

Phil Ivey opened to 2,400 preflop and received calls from Anthony Zinno and Thomas Kysar before Chance Kornuth made it 13,200 from the cutoff. Scott Smile cold called from the button and the rest of the table folded.

The flop came {7-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and Kornuth continued with a bet of 28,000. Smile immediately moved all in for 105,000. He then started to pull his phone out while Kornuth thought.

"No phones," said Kornuth. "If you're nervous I want to get a read on you," he smiled.

"I want to record this bad beat," replied Smile. "Anytime I don't know what to do, I just ask myself, 'what would Phil do?', and it works like a dream."

Ivey laughed from across the table.

Kornuth made the call.

Chance Kornuth: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Scott Smile: {k-Spades}{10-Spades}

The turn {8-Diamonds} and river {k-Clubs} didn't help Kornuth, and Smile doubled with his full house.

"I owe it to you, Phil, you made a lot of players better," said Smile.

"That's who I should be mad at," said Kornuth. "Nice hand,"
