Zappulla Takes One Down

Nível 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

With 20,000 in the middle and a flop of {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}, the big blind and Paul Zapulla in the cutoff got it all in.

Paul Zappulla: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{2-Spades}

The turn was a {j-Hearts} to give Zappulla a flush and with the {4-Spades} on the river and no low on board, his opponent was sent out of the tournament.

Foxen Scoops One

Nível 10 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

A player raised to 3,500 from the cutoff and Alex Foxen defended his big blind.

The flop of {3-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} saw action check through to the turn {6-Spades} which saw Foxen check-call a bet of 5,000 from his opponent.

The river {k-Diamonds} checked through and the cutoff player turned over {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades} for sevens-up and an eight-low, while Foxen turned up {k-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for kings-up with a seven-low, which was good to scoop the pot.

At another table, Ryan Laplante was eliminated.

Wang Sends One Out; Hellmuth Enters

Nível 10 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

A hand was picked up on the flop with Michael Wang on the button with a player in the cutoff.

The board read {j-Hearts}{9-Spades}{8-Hearts} and the player bet pot which was 15,000 and Wang responded by moving all in for 23,000 effective, which the player called.

Opponent: {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Michael Wang: {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}

The board ran out {k-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and Wang's straight held up as the best hand while his opponent exited the tournament area. At the same table, Phil Hellmuth sat down.

Nguyen Ousted Just After Registration Closed

Nível 10 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Scotty Nguyen
Scotty Nguyen

Scotty Nguyen raised to 5,000 from under the-gun and Yueqi Zhu defended the big blind.

The flop came out {7-Spades}{10-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and Zhu checked to Nguyen who bet 10,000. Zhu moved all in for the 19,000 Nguyen had total and Nguyen called.

Scotty Nguyen: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}
Yueqi Zhu: {a-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}

Zhu had flopped a set and a better low draw against Nguyen's top pair and worse low draw. The turn {q-Hearts} gave Nguyen a myriad of outs to stay alive, but the river {k-Spades} ensured that Zhu would take down the pot, eliminating Nguyen in the process.
