June 27th saw the start of Event #57: DeepStack Championship No-Limit Hold'em at the 2022 WSOP at Bally's and Las Vegas. The field reached 4,913 entrants by the close of late registration generating a prize pool of $2,505,630. The final 737 players are all taking home a chunk of that prize pool, with the minimum cash being $961. The eventual winner will take home a pay day of $299,464 and of course the highly sought after WSOP gold bracelet. Play will resume today at 12:00 p.m. local time.

Among those still in pursuit of that bracelet, American Bradley Miller leads the way with the biggest stack, bagging 1,165,000 at the end of the night. Fellow Americans Mark Olivo (1,052,000) and John Ypma (1,000,000) also managed to finish the night at or above 1,000,000 chips.

There were plenty of familiar faces who bagged at the end of the night. Jeremy Ausmus (502,000) is still in contention, looking for his fifth career bracelet and second of this series. Chris Moorman (96,000), Tuan Le (156,000), Eric Baldwin (468,000), Brett Shaffer (466,000), Ryan Eriquezzo (622,000), and Mark Seif (666,000) will all return to play with their eyes set on their third career bracelets. 2021 Main Event finalist Jack Oliver (115,000) remains in the mix, while previous Main Event Champions Greg Raymer and Scott Davies failed to bag. Paul Dewald (560,000), the first WSOP.com Player of the Year back in 2015, also managed to bag.

Players will play through 10 levels, beginning at Level 18, with 5,000/10,000 blinds with a 10,000 big blind ante. Levels will be extended from 40 to 60 minutes long for the remainder of the event. A 15 minute break is scheduled after every second level, with a 60 minute dinner break slated for after Level 23, expected to be around 6:30 p.m. local time.

Be sure to stay tuned in to PokerNews for live coverage of this event, as well as all other WSOP bracelet events at the 2022 World Series of Poker at Bally's and Paris Las Vegas.

Merola Sends Minkin to the Rail

Nível 18 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Kelly Minkin
Kelly Minkin

Andrew Merola opened to 20,000 in early position and Kelly Minkin shoved for her last 190,000. It came back to Merola who snap-called for the following showdown:

Kelly Minkin: {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Andrew Merola: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

Minkin was in desperate need of a double up but got a flop {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{9-Spades}, giving her a pair and a straight draw. The turn gave her even more outs for the flush draw with the {3-Diamonds}.

"Come on dealer!" said Merola jokingly, before the {a-Clubs} hit the river. "You had all the outs of the deck except that card!" added Merola while taking the pot.

Russell Hits River to Triple Up

Nível 19 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Vincent Russell
Vincent Russell

Details of this hand were provided to PokerNews after the fact courtesy of Vincent Russell.

Russell moved all in from under the gun with 168,000 behind. A few seats to his left, a player rejammed for around 200,000. The big blind called with both of them covered.

Vincent Russell: {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Opponent 1: {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Big blind: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

Russell was ahead, but that changed quickly when the {2-Spades}{a-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} flop gave both of his opponents top pair. The {4-Spades} turn was of no help to Russell, who was drawing to a two outer to make a set of nines in order to stay alive in the tournament. He managed to hit a miracle {9-Spades} on the river, giving him a set and the best hand. He raked in the pot, tripling his stack.

Another player at the table claimed to have folded the {9-Clubs}, although others around the table said they were uncertain if they should believe him. If true, Russell was drawing even thinner than previously thought.

Ypma's Stack Continues to Grow

Nível 20 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
John Ypma
John Ypma

After a raise to 35,000 from early position, a reraise came from late position to 240,000, leaving himself just 5,000 behind. John Ypma made the call from the button and the early position player folded.

On the {8-Hearts}{4-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop, Ypma tossed in a single 5,000 chip and his opponent made the call, moving all in to do so.

Opponent: {10-}{10-}
John Ypma: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

Another player at the table called Ypma a "King magnet," as he had evidently woken up to cowboys previously. The {8-Clubs}{j-Clubs} runout changed nothing, and Ypma scooped the pot with his better pocket pair, adding to his massive stack.

Palivoda with Massive Stack After Three Way All-In

Nível 20 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Michael Palivoda
Michael Palivoda

The details of this hand were provided to PokerNews after the fact by players at the table.

After some betting, only three players stayed in the hand to see the flop, including Mike Palivoda. The flop put an eight and a ten on the board, and two hearts. One player moved all in for around 600,000, and the next rejammed for around 1,100,000. Palivoda made the call with both covered.

Opponent 1: {8-}{8-}
Opponent 2: {10-}{10-}
Mike Palivoda: {a-Hearts}{a-}

Palivoda was behind to both opponents, who had both flopped a set, but had outs with his over pair, and the backdoor nut flush draw. It was that draw that brought him the big pay day, as he hit runner-runner hearts to complete his flush and make the best hand.

Palivoda scooped the massive pot, and scored the double knockout at the same time. His stack is now as big, if not bigger, than anyone else's in the room. It took him the next few hands just to get his chips all stacked neatly.

Lendvai Makes Correct Call

Nível 22 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Tamas Lendvai
Tamas Lendvai

Action was picked up on the flop with about 300,000 in the pot and a {a-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Spades} flop. Tamas Lendvai fired for 100,000 from the hijack. His opponent moved all in with 755,000 behind. Lendvai went into the tank for several minutes, before eventually pushing a stack of chips in. Lendvai was the at risk player, with 455,000 total.

"Good call," Lendvai's opponent told him as the pair tabled their hands.

Tamas Lendvai: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Opponent: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

Lendvai had indeed made a good call, and now would just need to fade a queen on the turn and river to double up his stack. He did so successfully, as the {10-Spades}{10-Hearts} runout changed nothing, and Lendvai secure the double up, taking a big chunk out of his opponent's stack, who was seen heading to the payout desk shortly after this hand.

Winn Hits Running Broadway

Nível 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Jordan Winn
Jordan Winn

Action for this hand was picked up just after the river hit the table.

Three players got it all in preflop. Nidal Echaust, who jammed first, was the small stack with about 160,000. A few seats to his left, the middle position player had the big stack of the three, while Jordan Winn owned the middle stack at around 300,000.

Nidal Echaust: {5-Spades}{7-Spades}
Jordan Winn: {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Middle Position: {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}

When the {7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{q-Spades} flop hit the table the middle position player was in excellent position to score the double knockout with his set of sevens. The {a-Spades} on the turn didn't change too much, but did see Winn pick up a straight draw and Echaust pick up a flush draw. The {10-Clubs} on the river completed Winn's Broadway straight, giving him the pot. Echaust was eliminated, and Winn just about tripled his stack.

After the hand, another player at the table asked, "Anyone know what his equity was on that flop?"

Another player was quick to pull out his phone to find the answer. "6% chance to win on that flop. Even less than the five-seven. He had 8.5% equity."

"I would have taken the under on 6%" the original asker responded.

Wasch Gets Knockout

Nível 25 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Sarah Wasch
Sarah Wasch

Action was picked up after Sarah Wasch put in a raise from 250,000 to 550,000 from middle position. The small blind moved all in with about 860,000 behind. The big blind folded and Wasch made the snap call with her opponent covered.

Opponent: {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Sarah Wasch: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

The {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop paired Wasch's ace and put her ahead. The {5-Hearts} turn and {6-Diamonds} river did nothing to change that, and her pair of aces was still good. She scooped the pot to add to her stack while her opponent headed to the payout desk.

McCorkell Doubles Up Through Van Fleet

Nível 25 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Craig McCorkell
Craig McCorkell

Jon Van Fleet opened for 100,000 from the cutoff. Action folded around to Craig McCorkell in the big blind, who moved all in with 1,500,000 behind. Van Fleet snap called with McCorkell covered.

Craig McCorkell: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Jon Van Fleet: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}

McCorkell was behind, and the {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} flop did little to help. However, the {9-Diamonds} turn gave McCorkell a boat, and left Van Fleet drawing to a two-outer to make a higher set. Instead, the {10-Diamonds} came on the river, securing the pot for McCorkell, doubling his stack.

Hyatt's Aces Hold

Nível 26 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Jonathan Hyatt
Jonathan Hyatt

After a raise to early position to 125,000, Jonathan Hyatt reraised to 450,000. The button four-bet to around 1,500,000. The early position player went into the tank for a few minutes, before making the laydown. Hyatt five bet shoved and the button called as the player at risk.

Opponent: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}
Jonathan Hyatt: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}

Hyatt was way ahead, and the {10-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{8-Clubs}{j-Spades} runout offered no help to his opponent. Hyatt scooped the pot, putting him firmly amongst the chip leaders, while his opponent headed to the payout desk, wishing the table luck as he left.
