Cates Gets Some Value From Kihara

Nível 24 : 75,000/150,000, 150,000 ante

Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo

Naoya Kihara: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts} / {4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} / {7-Hearts}
Dan Cates: {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} / {q-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} / {10-Clubs}

Naoya Kihara chopped with Dan Cates in the previous hand when neither had a pair in the hand and Kihara had the superior kicker for his ace-high.

What followed was another duel between the two in which Cates completed with split queens. Kihara called bets by Cates from fourth to sixth street and was put in the ringer by Cates on seventh. Kihara tanked for a while and eventually opted to fold.

Benny Glaser Eliminated in 4th Place ($464,420)

Nível 24 : 75,000/150,000, 150,000 ante
Benny Glaser

No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw

Naoya Kihara {8-}{7-}{6-}{5-}{2-} raised to 450,000 first to act.

Benny Glaser moved all in for 3,525,000 from the next position with {9-}{8-}{7-}{6-}{4-}. Yuri Dzivielevski and Dan Cates folded and Kihara made the call.

Kihara called and then stood put.

"It's so f*cked because I can't break this," said Glaser deliberating whether to draw.

"Would you think a bit more with a ten?" Glaser said while staring at Kihara. "Pat," he finally said, as Kihara's eight was enough to send Glaser to the rail in fourth place.

"Bad luck Benny," said Cates from the other end of the table.

"It's obviously very bittersweet," a crestfallen Glaser told Jeff Platt. "I had much higher hopes when I was chip leader. I'm obviously still happy and grateful to have come this far, but winning this would have meant everything.

"It's the best mixed game tournament on the planet and I love mixed games."

ClubGG WSOP Bubble Protect
ClubGG WSOP Bubble Protect

Imagine how gutted you would be if you bought into the 2022 World Series of Poker Main Event and navigated your way through several days of action only to crash out on the money bubble and having to return empty-handed. Now imagine how elated you would be if that happened but then the folks over at ClubGG gave you back your $10,000 buy-in.

ClubGG's incredible WSOP bubble protection promotion continues with four more events eligible for having their bubble protection. Scores of players were protected in The Housewarming, the Monster Stack, the Millionaire Maker, and the Colossus after signing up for a $49.99 per month ClubGG subscription.

There are many reasons to sign up for a subscription at ClubGG, including being able to win your way into live events worldwide, including the 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event. But perhaps best of all, being a ClubGG subscriber protects your bubble for the events shown below, which kick off over the weekend.

  • Event #66: $1,000 Mini Main Event - July 1 to 3
  • Event #68: $1,000 Million Dollar Bounty - July 2 to 7
  • Event #70: $10,000 Main Event - July 3 to 17
  • Event #85: $1,500 The Closer - July 15 to 18

The four remaining bubble-protected WSOP tournaments above are all covered by ClubGG's bubble protection. Finish exactly one place outside the money, find a PokerNews or ClubGG representative at the WSOP, give them a few details, and if you are a ClubGG Platinum member you will receive your first buy-in back as WSOP credit for future events. Players should head to the GGLounge, located between Bally's and Paris, between 2:00 p.m, and 4:00 p.m. Vegas time to claim their prize.

In addition to the WSOP Bubble Protection promotion, ClubGG Platinum members, those who subscribe for $49.99 per month, have unlimited attempts to win their way into live events, including the 2022 WSOP Main Event.
