Martins Crosses Ten Million

Nível 26 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Hamid Moradi moved all in from middle position for approximately 900,000 and was called by Manuel Bravo Martins in the small blind. Barry Greenstein folded his big blind and Moradi was at risk.

Hamid Moradi: {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}
Manuel Bravo Martins: {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

The board came {2-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Spades}, eliminating Moradi just before the dinner break and sending Martins to dinner with over ten million chips.

Avigal Loading Up

Nível 26 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Meir Avigal

Yuzu Wang raised to 160,000 in early position and was met with an all-in jam from a player in middle position for 975,000. Meir Avigal then moved over top for approximately 2,200,000 and Wang folded.

Opponent: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Meir Avigal: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

Avigal was behind and in danger of dropping almost half of his stack, but the {4-Clubs}{5-Spades}{9-Clubs} flop gave him plenty of hope with a flush draw. The turn gave him exactly what he needed with the {2-Clubs}, and finally the {7-Clubs} just to solidify the win and send him up near four million chips.

What's David Oppenheim Doing in this Tournament?!

Nível 26 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
David Oppenheim
David Oppenheim

While there are often players with similar or identical names to notable or outright famous poker players, a new one has been discovered in this tournament.

David Oppenheim, who is originally from the Seattle area but now lives in Las Vegas, raised some of the PokerNews staff's eyebrows when his name was seen on the seat draw for the day.

Speaking with the Poker Hall of Famer's namesake, he revealed that he's friends and roommates with Matthew Jewett who made a deep run in last year's Main Event, finishing 28th for just under $200,000.

While that other David Oppenheim is best known for his cash game prowess, this David Oppenheim, like his roommate, is no slouch in the tournament streets, with over $100,000 in cashes to his name and with under 100 players left in this event, he's on the verge of another decent score.

Vaughan Busts Player, Martinez Doubles Next Hand

Nível 25 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

There's lots of action on the tables as the average stack gets short, back to back hands saw all ins.

In the first, Matthew Vaughan was all in covering his opponents 1,400,000 or so with {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades} against the {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}. The board ran out {4-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, clean for Vaughan.

In the following hand, there was an open from Qasem Zyad of 220,000 and Vaughan called, as did the small blind and Max Martinez in the big blind. The flop came down {2-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Martinez jammed all in for his last 1,090,000 chips. Zyad announced all in for around 4,300,000 and Vaughan folded and the small blind did, also.

Maximo Martinez: {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Qasem Zyad: {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}

It wasn't looking great for Martinez, but the running {6-Hearts} and {q-Hearts} gave Martinez a flush and doubled him up.

What's Up Doc? Not Your Pocket Fives.

Nível 25 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

After Thomas Welch moved all in for 155,000 from the cutoff, Charles "Doc" Hanson called on the button.

Glenn Nunez then moved all in from the small blind for 670,000 putting Hanson to a decision for roughly half of his chips.

After pondering his decision, Hanson folded, saying he had pocket fives.

His tablemates then revealed their hands.

Thomas Welch: {q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Glenn Nunez: {q-Spades}{8-Spades}

Hanson immediately bemoaned his fold, saying he thought his opponents were stronger than the hands they turned over.

He'd be even less happy after the runout of {a-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{4-Spades}, which would have given him the win, but instead, Welch and Nunez chopped the pot, including Hanson's 150,000 chip call.

Megumi Takano

After an open of 130,000 from Manuel Bravo Martins, Megumi Takano had moved all in from the button for her last 520,000 and Martins called after it folded back to him.

Megumi Takana: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

The run out was not good for Takana, the low board of {5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{4-Clubs} was tabled to bust the Japanese player.
