Cada Wins a Big One

Nível 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Joe Cada
Joe Cada

Jose Jaraiz opened on the button and Michael Rocco flatted in the small blind. Joe Cada three-bet out of the big blind, which forced Jaraiz out of the hand but Rocco responded with an all in. Cada made the call for his tournament life.

Joe Cada: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Michael Rocco: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

It was a flip for a more than 50 big blind pot. Cada took the lead after the {6-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{k-Diamonds} flop and stayed in front on the {q-Spades} turn. The {4-Diamonds} river completed a safe runout for the former WSOP Main Event champion, as Rocco told him he was a "sick, sick man".

Elsewhere Daniel Negreanu was seen exiting the tournament area, having been eliminated.

Zack Eliminated by Mizrachi

Nível 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Robert Mizrachi
Robert Mizrachi

Dan Zack's run in the this event is no more.

Cards were on their backs with Zack's last 200,000 in the middle. Zack's {a-}{j-} had run into the {a-}{k-} of Robert Mizrachi.

The board ran out {4-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, eliminating Zack. He'll have to wait at least one more event to win his third bracelet of the summer, as he leads the Player of the Year leaderboard, ahead of Dan Weinman and David Peters. Mizrachi moves up the leaderboard as he looks for bracelet five.

Three-Way All In, No Eliminations

Nível 19 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Sonny Franco
Sonny Franco

Action folded to Kacper Piotrowski in the cutoff who announced all in. Ting Yi Tsai then re-jammed from the button. The small blind got out of the way but Sonny Franco in the big blind, who had the shortest stack at the table, announced he too was all in to set up a three-way battle.

Sonny Franco: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Kacper Piotrowski: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Ting Yi Tsai: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}

Tsai had both of his opponents covered so while overall Franco was ahead, Tsai was in a good position to claim a significant sidepot. The {k-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{j-Hearts} flop immediately changed matters, with Franco maintaining the lead but Piotrowski moving ahead of Tsai in pursuit of the sidepot.

Nothing changed on the {2-Hearts} turn or {7-Diamonds} river, giving Franco a full triple up while sending an even larger heap of chips Piotrowski's way.

Straight Flush for Spinella

Nível 19 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Anthony Spinella
Anthony Spinella

With 500,000 in the middle and a board of {6-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{a-Spades}{9-Spades}, Jangkyu Lee sat contemplating his move for a few minutes before finally pushing all in.

Anthony Spinella snap-called and flipped over {7-Spades}{10-Spades} for a straight flush and a huge double up to over two million in chips. Lee showed {a-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} for two pair but it was no match for Spinella's hit on the river.

Waigel's Ascent Continues

Nível 20 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Ezequiel Waigel
Ezequiel Waigel

Ezequiel Waigel has been among the largest stacks in the room throughout the day and just took down another pot, this time against Elio Fox.

Fox opened to 50,000 on the button and Waigel defended his big blind.

The {10-Spades}{7-Spades}{k-Hearts} flop saw Waigel check to Fox, who led out for 40,000. Waigel made the call to send the two players to the turn.

Waigel opted to take over the betting lead on the {8-Diamonds} turn, firing off 75,000. Fox thought for some time but did end up smooth calling.

The {j-Diamonds} river did little to persuade Waigel to slow down as he counted out a stack of chips before pushing 135,000 into the middle. Fox thought long and hard but in the end decided he could not beat Waigel's hand and released his own.

Hu Is This Guy?

Nível 20 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Anthony Hu
Anthony Hu

Anthony Hu has largely gone under the radar in the event so far, but he's quietly chipped up a very respectable stack as the day is in it's final hour.

PokerNews joined the hand on the river, where Hu had bet from the big blind into his cutoff opponent, Rui Bouquet, to the tune of 135,000 chips. With around 175,000 in the pot, Rui considered his options on the {10-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{6-Hearts} board before deciding on a fold.

Play has come to a close on Day 2 of Event #46: $5,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold'em at the 2022 WSOP at Bally's and Paris Las Vegas. Some 324 players took their seats from a total field of 920, though many of those only registered at the start of the day, at the end of the late registration period.

When the dust settled after ten 60-minute levels, 46 players were able to find a bag for Day 3, and are now vying for the biggest payouts from the $4,243,500 prize pool.

Of those 46 surviving players, it is Argentine's Ezequiel Waigel who leads the way, sitting on a stack of 3,440,000. He has opened quite a gap at the top of the leaderboard, with his closest competitor, Anthony Spinella, bagging 2,575,000. Rounding out the top three is Stephen Song with 2,485,000. Others who will return for Day 3 include Robert Mizrachi (1,170,00), Joey Weissman (985,000) and Elio Fox (895,000).

Notables who entered but failed to progress to Day 3 included six-time bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu (106th - $8,807), current WSOP POY race leader Daniel Zack (91st - $8,807) and 2015 WSOP Main Event champion Ryan Riess (75th - $10,066).

The remaining 46 players are guaranteed $15,482 but so deep in the tournament, all eyes will surely be on the $771,765 first prize and the WSOP gold bracelet that accompanies it. Play resumes at 2 p.m. PDT Thursday, June 23rd and will continue until just five players remain.

Stay tuned as the PokerNews live reporting team continues to provide updates from this and every other event at the 2022 WSOP at Bally's and Paris Las Vegas.
