Garza Closes the Curtain on Negreanu's Night

Nível 14 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

The flop read {9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}. From early position, Ap Garza bet 150,000. Daniel Negreanu called in the big blind and Jason Mercier folded.

The turn was the {6-Hearts}. Negreanu led jammed and pulled out his camera. Garza called and turned over the straight with the {8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}, while Negreanu had the {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{7-Clubs}. Negreanu was drawing very thin to an unlikely full house or a chop but the river was the {q-Hearts} and his night would come to an end after three bullets were used up.

Sean Winter
Sean Winter

Sean Winter was at risk with top two pair on a board of {2-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}, while Aaron Mermelstein had the {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}.

The {10-Hearts} binked off on the river to give Mermelstein a set of tens and as Winter's hand was discarded quickly and Winter walked away into the summer night.

Mahmood Finally Gets to Bluff Kornuth

Nível 14 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Ayaz Mahmood checked the {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop and Chance Kornuth bet 40,000 in the cutoff. Erik Seidel let go on the button and Mahmood called. The two remaining players checked the {4-Spades} turn and Mahmood then bet the {k-Hearts} river for 62,000.

Kornuth folded and Mahmood was all smiles. "I finally get to bluff you," he exclaimed and flashed the {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{4-Clubs}.

"I didn't have much," Kornuth replied to which Mahmood asked "but you surely had me beat. "King no heart," was the reply of Kornuth, who remains well above average despite missing out on this pot.

Park Sends Chidwick to the Rail

Nível 14 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Stephen Chidwick
Stephen Chidwick

On a three-way flop of {k-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{3-Clubs}, Isaac Kempton and Stephen Chidwick checked over to James Park who made it 60,000 to go. Kempton called and Chidwick then pushed for 368,000 total. Park clicked it back and Kempton got out of the way.

Stephen Chidwick: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}{j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
James Park: {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{8-Spades}

Park was ahead with his two pair but Chidwick had plenty of outs in this battle of the Brits. The {8-Diamonds} turn added even more outs for Chidwick but he bricked them all on the {3-Diamonds} river.

The $25,000 High Roller champion Tong Li and defending champion Jeremy Ausmus are also no longer in contention as the field plummeted to 45 contenders on six tables.

Mahmood Hits Straight vs Bleznick

Nível 14 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Jared Bleznick raised to pot from the button. Ayaz Mahmood defended the big blind.

The flop came {3-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{k-Spades}. It checked around to the {10-Hearts} turn where both players also checked. The river was the {7-Spades}. Mahmood bet 25,000 and Bleznick snap-called.

Mahmood announced straight and showed {9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{j-Spades}{6-Clubs} to win the pot.

"I didn't even see that that straight was there." said Bleznick as Mahmood offered him a contact to his eye doctor friend to set up an appointment.

Diebold Doubles Through Garza

Nível 14 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Ben Diebold
Ben Diebold

Three ways to the {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop, Ben Diebold bet 75,000 from under the gun and was called only by Ap Garza. That brought the pot up to 250,000 and they headed to the {8-Hearts} turn on which Diebold jammed for 176,000.

Garza asked for the size of the pot, then mulled it over for a few more seconds and tossed in calling chips.

Ben Diebold: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}
Ap Garza: {7-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}

"Not what I expected," gasped Diebold once he held on the {7-Diamonds} river as the recent WSOP bracelet winner doubled to two times the starting stack.

Mermelstein Three-Bets Turn in Big Stack Collision

Nível 15 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

The board was paired and had three to a flush as it read {5-Spades}{8-Spades}{a-Hearts}{a-Spades} on the turn. From the big bling, big stack Aaron Mermelstein bet 125,000 into a pot of about 152,000.

Michael Heritsch was in early position and had a substantial stack himself. He raised to 400,000. Mermelstein took a few moments before he three-bet to 1,200,000.

Heritsch showed visible frustration and he gritted his teeth and aggressively checked his cards before sliding them into the muck to send Mermelstein more volume to add to his mound of chips.

Mercier Doubles Through Wolff

Nível 15 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Jason Mercier had called a raise to 30,000 while on the button and George Wolff then raised the pot in the big blind to force out the initial raiser. Mercier elected to call with 191,000 behind and the flop brought {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}.

Wolff moved all-in and Mercier eventually called it off for what he had behind.

"I was bluffing," Wolff joked and rolled over the {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} for the top set while Mercier had outs with the {7-Spades}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for a flush draw and back door straight outs. Nothing changed on the {10-Spades} turn but the {q-Diamonds} river improved Mercier to a flush.

At nearly the same time, defending champion Jeremy Ausmus and Anthony Zinno were eliminated on neighbouring tables.
