Lahti Plays the Wrong Game

William Lahti was humble enough to share his mistake after the fact.
"I drew one card, and caught a three, I thought it was the gin card," said Lahti. "There I was blasting away into a pat hand, then I realized we were playing A-5, [not 2-7]."
Lahti recently ran deep in the $1,500 Dealer's Choice Event. "Well, yeah, over there I always knew what game we were playing," he smiled.
Early levels are a great time for that mistake, and if his recent mixed-game success means anything, we're sure he'll figure it out.

Hampton Takes Down Pot

Jesse Hampton bet from the button and the big blind called. Both players drew three cards. The big blind bet, Hampton raised and was called by the big blind. The big blind drew one and Hampton stood pat.
Hampton bet, and the big blind called. Once again the big blind drew one and Hampton stood pat. The big blind elected to bet out and was promptly called by Hampton. The big blind just rolled over 
to concede he paired on the last draw. Hampton rolled over 
to win the pot.

The opener bet again after the draw, and Nguyen raised to two bets. The middle position player called. Both players drew one.
The player in middle position checked to Nguyen who continued with another bet and was called. Middle position drew one and Nguyen stood pat.
Both players checked the river and Nguyen turned over 
for the winner.

Allen Kessler raised from middle position, Vasu Amarapu made the call in the small blind and the big blind player put in the third bet. Kessler and Amarapu called.
On the first draw, the big blind drew one, Kessler and Amarapu drew two.
Amarapu checked, the big blind bet and both Kessler and Amarapu made the call. On the second draw, Amarapu and the big blind drew one, while Kessler drew two.
Again Amarapu checked, the big blind bet, Kessler and Amarapu called. All players drew one card.
"Good luck," said Kessler, as all players looked to make their hand on the final draw.
Action checked through on the final betting round. Amarapu showed 
for the six-high three card hand that was good enough to take down the pot.

Gee Stands Pat the Whole Way

Action picked up in a four-bet pot pre-draw with David Gee being the player who put in the fourth bet from middle position.
First draw, Gee stood pat while his three opponents drew one, one, and two. Gee bet when checked to him and all three opponents called.
On the second draw, Gee's three opponents all drew two while he stood pat again. Gee bet when checked to, but now the opponent on his left raised to two bets. The big blind called and Gee continued the aggression with a third bet. Both players called.
On the third draw, the big blind checked, and both Gee and the in-position player stood pat. Gee bet, the in-position player called and the big blind folded.
Gee showed 
for eighty-six smooth and the winner.

Golden Nugget to Host $1,100 Buy-In, $1,000,000 GTD PokerNews Cup June 24-28

This summer, Golden Nugget Las Vegas will play host to the 14th Annual Grand Poker Series, which features 81 events and offers over $3 million in guaranteed prize money from May 31-July 3. One of those events is the $1,100 buy-in, $1,000,000 Guaranteed PokerNews Cup that will run from June 24-28.
The tournament will feature three starting flights beginning with Day 1a at 11 a.m. PT on Friday, June 24. Days 1b and 1c will take place at the same time on Saturday, June 25, and Sunday, June 26 respectively. The surviving players from each flight will return at Noon on Monday, June 27 to play down to the final table, which will play out at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28.
