A flood of stellar names were on show from the get-go, with Daniel Negreanu, Allen Kessler, David Benyamine and Dragana Mackelprang all taking their seats at the start of play.

More famous faces trickled in as the day progressed. Defending champion Ari Engel made a brief cameo, but his elimination ensured that a new champion will be crowned.

Three-time WSOP bracelet winner Julien Martini was another player fall at the first hurdle, after he was deposed by Aditya Prasetyo. Negreanu was also a Day 1 casualty after Jason Riesenberg cracked his pocket kings.

Notable names such as Mike Matusow, Todd Brunson and Jake Schwartz all managed to pilot a stack over to the second day of festivities. Matusow made a steady climb throughout the day while Schwartz and Brunson were late entries that ran up a stack.

Esther Taylor is currently the only female player in attendance and has a healthy stack of 103,000.

The remaining players will return Wednesday, June 8 at 2 p.m. PT at Paris, Las Vegas to continue on their quest for the coveted gold bracelet. Stay tuned to PokerNews for live updates on all of the action.

Esposito Takes From Woodward

Nível 10 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Matt Woodward raised to 6,000 from under the gun and only John Esposito called, from the small blind.

Esposito check-called for 3,000 on the {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} flop, before action checked through on the {3-Clubs} turn. Esposito bet 6,000 on the {7-Spades} river and Woodward gave up while commenting he had made a big fold.

Woodward Takes from Brunson

Nível 10 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Todd Brunson raised from early position and was called by Matt Woodward on the button and Andrew Brown in the big blind.

Brown and Brunson checked the {10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{k-Spades} flop before they called a bet from Woodward. The same action took place on the {4-Hearts} turn, but this time Brown folded.

Brunson check-called again on the {9-Clubs} river. Woodward showed his {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for two pair, kings and nines to add to his stack.

Choi Takes From Zack; Rast Busts Guagenti

Nível 10 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

With 26,000 in the middle on the {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{4-Spades}{5-Hearts} board, Daniel Choi bet 6,000 from the big blind. Dan Zack, in middle position, called.

Both players checked the {k-Clubs} river and Zack mucked after seeing Choi's {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{2-Spades}.

On an opposite table, a player was seen collecting the last of Nick Guagenti's chips, confirming the latter player's exit.
