The 2016 Main Event champion Qui Nguyen was spotted in a hand with the board reading {4-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{q-Spades}.

Marcelo Tadeu Aziz Junior bet 5,500 from the button and Qui Nguyen called from the hijack.

The river came the {10-Clubs} and Nguyen threw out a bet of 20,000 into a pot of about 22,000. Tadeu Aziz Junior thought for quite a while before announcing he was all in, Nguyen snap-called.

Tadeu Aziz Junior tabled {j-Spades}{10-Spades} and Nguyen turned over the {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for the rivered set to take down the nice sized pot as well as leaving his opponent with a short stack.

Kang Adds to his Stack

Sungwoon Yoo and Steve Anderson limped before Gyuhoon Kang raised it to 1,200. Both Yoo and Anderson called.

The flop brought in the {j-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop. Anderson check-folded when Kang continued for another 1,200.

Tolbert Puts Sam in the Tank

On a board of {8-Spades}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}, Thomas Tolbert check-raised Sam Ho's bet of 1,300 to 3,100. Ho made the call.

The {4-Spades} landed on the river and Tolbert fired for 7,000. Ho went deep into the tank for about four minutes.

"I have a very tough decision. I am not acting, it's only Level 1," Ho proclaimed before tossing his cards into the muck.

Frankenberger Takes Pot from Astedt

Niklas Astedt opened to 500 in late position and Andrew Frankenberger defended from the big blind.

Frankenberger checked on the {9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop and called when Astedt bet 400. Both players checked on the {8-Diamonds} turn.

The river brought in the {j-Spades} and Frankenberger led out with a bet of 1,000. Astedt quickly folded.

Berry Collects Small Pot

The {q-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop was checked to Berry who won the pot with a 400 uncontested continuation bet.

Yueqi "Rich" Zhu took his seat in the Amazon room and will be looking for his eighth cash of the 2021 WSOP. Zhu won his sole WSOP title in the 2018 Mixed Omaha event and has also been the runner-up in WSOP bracelet events on four separate occasions.

The cutoff raised to 600 and the small blind called before Zhu three-bet to 2,200. The cutoff tanked briefly before folding and the small blind quickly sent his cards into the muck.

Zhu dragged the pot to get some early momentum on Day 1.

In a raised pot, the flop brought in the {2-Clubs}{q-Spades}{10-Diamonds} flop. Thomas Moore, in the big blind, check-called the 1,100 bet from Jay Farber.

The {10-Spades} appeared on the turn and this time Moore check-folded after Farber's 2,800 bet.

Brinkenhoff Raises

Action was picked up on the turn as the board read {5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{k-Spades}. Joseph Tauber bet 1,200 before Michael Brinkenhoff raised to 4,200.

Tauber folded his hand and Brinkenhoff won another pot with a flop three-bet, having scooped one in similar fashion in the previous hand.

Astedt Wins With Continuation Bet

After a rough first hour, Niklas Astedt raised from middle position and only the big blind defended to see the {7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{a-Spades} flop.

After the big blind check before folding to Astedt's 700 continuation bet.
