Day 1 of Event #26: $1,000 Freezeout No-Limit Hold’em has officially wrapped up and after 22 levels of 30-minute play, only 38 players remain in the field. The event attracted 1,358 players, making a total prize pool of $1,208,620 and walking away from Day 1 as one of the chip leaders was Levi Klump who bagged a whopping 2,230,000 in chips. He won't sit too comfortably on Day 2, however, with none other than 14-time WSOP circuit ring winner Maurice Hawkins (915,000) who’s looking for his first WSOP bracelet, and Maxx Coleman (790,000) two very known and feared players, also in the mix.

Some other notable stacks from Event #26: $1,000 Freezeout No-Limit Hold’Em returning for Day 2 include Rittie Chuaprasert (1,805,000), Richard Talerico (1,480,000), Kazuki Ikeuchi (1,210,000), Cole Ferraro (1,195,000), Axel Reese (1,110,000), Anthony Askey (1,043,000), and Clement Van Dressel (1,000,000).

Unfortunately, not everyone managed to make it through the day's proceedings, and some big names fell short, including Maria Ho, former main event champ Joseph "Joe" McKeehen, 15-time bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth, David “Chino” Rheem, Barry Greenstein and Dario Sammartino.

The 38 remaining players return for Day 2 on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at noon local time and will play down until there is a winner crowned. When they return, play will resume at Level 22 with a small blind of 10,000, big blind of 25,000, and a big blind ante of 25,000. There will be 15-minute breaks after every four levels.

Who will take home the first-place prize of $199,227 and the coveted WSOP gold bracelet? Tune in tomorrow as the PokerNews live reporting team will be bringing you all the action from the floor until a new bracelet winner has been confirmed has been made so make sure to follow the updates throughout the event.

Coleman Over One Million

Nível 21 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Maxx Coleman
Maxx Coleman

Maxx Coleman defended his big blind when the button raised to 45,000.

The flop came down {6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and Coleman check-called a bet of 40,000 from the button player.

The turn of the {4-Clubs} was checked through to the river of {9-Hearts}. Coleman bet 125,000 which sent his opponent into the tank. After about 30-seconds of thinking, the opponent made the call. Coleman turned over {6-Spades}{4-Diamonds} for two pair, and the button player mucked, sending the pot to Coleman.

Hawkins Asks For Aces

Nível 18 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Maurice Hawkins
Maurice Hawkins

Chip leader Maurice Hawkins asked the dealer for two red aces before a recent hand so he could stack another player.

Whatever the dealer gave him, it was worth raising to 25,000. The only call Hawkins got was from the big blind who left himself only 35,000 behind.

On the {k-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop, the big blind checked to Hawkins who announced "all-in".

The big blind opted to preserve his last 3 1/2 big blinds and folded, and while Hawkins did not receive the red aces he asked for, he did flash the {k-Clubs} for top pair.

Foutty Can't Fade Norkus

Nível 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Stephen Foutty
Stephen Foutty

Stanislovas Norkus raised to 16,000 in the cutoff and in the big blind, Stephen Foutty went all in for 123,000. After asking for the count, Norkus called and the cards were on their backs.

Stephen Foutty: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Stanislovas Norkus: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

The flop of {4-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Hearts} was safe enough for Foutty, but the turn of {j-Hearts} put Norkus in front. The river of {10-Diamonds} brought no help and Foutty was eliminated.

Maurice Hawkins was just overhead joking about how exhausted he was. It's likely from stacking his newfound chips as he is now easily pacing the field as the players head to a 20-minute break.

Kelly Minkin
Kelly Minkin

Kelly Minkin moved all-in in middle position for her last 30,000 and was called by the big blind.

Kelly Minkin: {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Big blind opponent: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}

The board runout of {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{j-Spades}{2-Spades}{6-Hearts} was no help to Minkin and she's been eliminated from the tournament.

Short Day for Hellmuth

Nível 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth was among those to maximum late-reg the tournament, entering at 600/1200 blinds.

With 12,000 left in his stack, Hellmuth limped on the button, and the big blind checked.

The dealer spread a flop of {3-Clubs}{j-Spades}{6-Spades} and the big blind checked to Hellmuth who bet 2,000. The big blind check-raised all-in and "The Poker Brat" happily shoved his chips forward in Hellmuthian fashion.

Phil Hellmuth: {j-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Big blind opponent: {q-Spades}{8-Spades}

Hellmuth was ahead with top pair, but needed to fade his opponent's flush draw.

The sweat didn't last long as the {k-Spades} fell on the turn, making his opponent's flush and ending Hellmuth's day.
