A field of nearly 2,000 Day 2 was trimmed to just nine, and it's anyone's game heading to the final table of Event #41: $400 COLOSSUS. That's because nobody has more than 33 big blinds, so while the shortest stacks are in single digits, anyone is a mini-heater away from the chip lead.

Holding the actual chip lead at this late juncture: Lithuania's Arunas "AngryGoose" Sapitavicius. Sapitavicius has less than $90K in WSOP cashes but could potentially ship many times that should he manage to close out this final table, which offers a whopping $595,930 up top plus an added $15K WSOP Europe package.

Among others still in contention: online PLO Joni Jouhkimainen and Ajay Chabra, who came very close to a bracelet in 2019 but fell heads up in the $1,500 2-7 Single Draw.

All of the players left appear to be seeking their first bracelets.

They all had to endure a very crazy finish to the tournament as blinds climbed higher and higher while stacks struggled to keep up. It was a whirlwind of shoves and mostly a lot of folds in response, although some of the players went through some manic swings.

Sapitavicius, for example, was in a great position late with almost 100 big blinds. However, just two poor hands saw him all in for his tournament life — a dominating spot with queens against king-queen — just a few hands later.

Another player spending a ton of time at the top of the counts was Chabra. He was seemingly in the top five for hours during the play down only to wind up at the bottom of the final-table counts after an ice-cold final hour.

Matthias Eibinger was perhaps the most notable player to make a deep run, but after getting lucky on the river once to double up, he'd ultimately fall in 14th place. Other recognizables who ran to the final few hundred included Chris "FamousJameis" Conrad, Mike McDonald, Thomas "MickeyM" Boivin, Joao Vieira, Chance Kornuth, Mark Radoja and Steven van Zadelhoff.

The remaining runners will have almost a week to study their shove charts as the final table doesn't resume until Aug. 1. Come back to PokerNews then to find out who will become the latest Colossus winner at the WSOP.

"gymkhana1" Eliminated in 10th Place ($28,890)

Nível 30 : 2,000,000/4,000,000, 400,000 ante

"AngryGoose" moved all in preflop. "gymkhana" was next to act and called the all in for the remainining 26,000,000 of their stack.

gymkhana: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
AngryGoose: {a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}

gymkhana looked to be in decent shape to grab a double up but the flop came {7-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} to pair the seven. The turn was the {4-Spades} and the river brought the field to the final table as the {a-Hearts} peeled off to eliminate gymkhana.
