After finding out it was 28,900, Messina went deep into the tank for about three minutes, counting his stack but eventually throwing his cards into the muck.

Robert Howard checked in the big blind and Daniel Hicks led out for 6,000 from the middle position. Howard responded with a shove and the dealer confirmed he had 36,100 when Hicks asked. Hicks contemplated his options for a while and then opted to make the call with the bigger stack.
