Konstantin Puchkov emerged as the chip leader after two days of limit action in Event #89: $3,000 H.O.R.S.E.

The starting field of 301 players has dwindled to a final 14 players who will come back on Tuesday, July 16, at 2 p.m. for the last day of the 2019 World Series of Poker. One of them will leave the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino with a WSOP bracelet and the $206,173 first-place prize.

Puchkov didn't start with an impressive stack today, but he was able to vault into the chip lead by the time for the redraw to the last three tables. He eliminated Justin Liberto and chopped a huge three-way pot with Paul Tedeschi (822,000) to reinforce his stack, finishing with 938,000.

Puchkov is a seasoned veteran not only at WSOP but also on the European circuit. His first reported cashes date back to 2004 and he has been decorated once here at the series, winning his bracelet in the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. back in 2010.

The final two tables feature some well-versed players, including defending champion Brian Hastings. The four-time WSOP champ guarded one of the bigger stacks throughout the day and he will come back to 620,000 chips when play resumes.

Jim Collopy (528,000) and Andrey Zaichenko (505,000) round out the top five while Day 1 chip leader Harold Klein (487,000) sits in sixth place.

The bottom half of the rankings feature Tom Koral who is fresh off winning his second career bracelet, having taken down the $1,500 NLH Double Stack earlier this week.

Paul Volpe, one of the most prolific mixed game players in the world, is second to last in chips with fewer than five bets. Only Cole Jackson will have a tougher position when the play restarts.

The remaining players will return at 2 p.m. for the final portion of the 2019 WSOP grind. The limits will be 15,000/30,000 and PokerNews will be again on the ground to provide live updates from the home stretch.

Tedeschi and Jackson Chop with Aces

Nível 20 : 12,000/24,000, 0 ante

Omaha Hi-Lo

Harold Klein raised under the gun, Cole Jackson three-bet on his left, and Paul Tedeschi four-bet out of the big blind. Klein folded, Jackson capped the street and Tedeschi called.

The flop came {q-Spades}{3-Hearts}{k-Hearts} and Tedeschi check-raised Jackson's bet. Jackson called.

The turn was the {3-Clubs} and Tedeschi bet. Jackson raised for his remaining chips and Tedeschi called.

Jackson: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
Tedeschi: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{9-Spades}

Both players had aces and Tedeschi could still win should a ten hit the river, but the river bricked and they chopped.

Guagenti Scoops

Nível 20 : 12,000/24,000, 0 ante

Omaha Hi-Lo

Nick Guagenti raised to 24,000 from under the gun and Denis Strebkov called from the button. Andrey Zaichenko three-bet the small blind and both Guagenti and Strebkov called.

The flop landed {5-Hearts}{6-Spades}{8-Spades} and action checked to Strebkov who bet 12,000. Both Zaichenko and Guagenti called, and when the turn landed the {4-Spades}, action checked through.

The river fell the {5-Diamonds} and Guagenti bet 24,000. Strebkov folded, and Zaichenko check-called.

Guagenti tabled his {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{2-Hearts} for the ace-high flush, and the nut low, and when Zaichenko mucked, Guagenti scooped.

Nível 20 : 12,000/24,000, 0 ante

Hold'em

Patrick Leonard raised the button and Paul Tedeschi made it three bets from the small blind. Harold Klein four-bet to 48,000 from the big blind, and both Leonard and Tedeschi called.

The flop landed {3-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{j-Hearts} and Klein continued for 12,000 with both Leonard and Tedeschi calling.

The {5-Clubs} and {5-Diamonds} checked through on the turn and river and Tedeschi tabled his {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}. Klein revealed his {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}, and once Leonard mucked, Tedeschi followed suit, and Klein scooped in the pot.

Hold'em

Adam Owen raised on the button, Andrey Zaichenko reraised from the small blind, and Albert Shim cold-called from the big. Owen called as well.

The flop came down {4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{q-Hearts} and Zaichenko bet, forcing out Shim. Owen had 38,000 left and he raised. Zaichenko reraised, Owen put in all his chips and Zaichenko called.

Owen was ahead with {q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} against {a-Spades}{3-Hearts}, but Zaichenko caught the {a-Hearts} on the turn and the {5-Hearts} river eliminated Owen in 15th place.

Strebkov Bounces Back

Nível 20 : 12,000/24,000, 0 ante

Stud Hi-Lo

Andrey Zaichenko completed and Jim Collopy called before Denis Strebkov raised. Adam Owen, who had brought in, called and so did Zaichenko and Collopy.

Strebkov fired on fourth again and all his opponents called. Zaichenko led into the pot on fifth, getting a fold from Collopy. Strebkov called for his last 10,000, and Owen called as well.

Zaichenko forced Owen out with a bet on sixth and they tabled their hands.

Collopy: {x-}{x-} / {a-Clubs}{3-Spades}{j-Spades} - fold
Strebkov: {5-Spades}{5-Hearts} / {7-Hearts}{8-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} / {5-Clubs}
Owen: {x-}{x-} / {2-Clubs}{9-Spades}{2-Hearts}{10-Spades} - fold
Zaichenko: {k-Spades}{8-Clubs} / {k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} / {k-Clubs}

Strebkov was ahead with three fives and he peeled quads on the river.

"Quads is good," Zaichenko said before squeezing a meaningless king for trips.
