Stefan Ivanov Scoops Chip Lead at End of Day 1b of Little One for One Drop

Day 1b of the $1,111 Little One for One Drop attracted over 1,500 entries and the field dwindled to around 600 players by the time for bagging. While yesterday saw some of the prolific players build huge stacks early on, today was more steady.

Only the last two-levels brought a turn of events, particularly for Stefan Ivanov who dragged a gigantic 300-big blind pot in the last level, tank-calling a robust shove with pocket queens. Ivanov found himself ahead as his opponent held just a pair of sevens, and Ivanov's hand remained the best after the river.

Ivanov eventually added some more chunks to his stack and wrapped up the 10-levels with 613,000 chips.

One of his nearest contenders was David Lolis, who was the beneficiary of a brutal cooler. Lolis was on the better side of the aces-versus-kings setup, flopping quads while his opponent rivered kings full. Lolis got the maximum value from the dream spot, and the huge clash brought his stack to the reported 524,000.

PokerNews Podcast host [Removed:139] took his seat in the first level and he stayed there until the end of the day, slowly increasing his chip-stack. Platt spent the second half of the day above the virtual average line and he will be back for Day 2 with 230,400.

Notable players who advanced through Day 1b featured the likes of Pete Chen, Mike Sexton, Mike Dentale, Michael Mizrachi, Chris Ferguson, and Antoine Labat, among others.

One more starting day is scheduled for the Little One for One Drop Event, starting on Monday, July 8, at 11 a.m. PDT. Come back to PokerNews for more live updates from what is expected to be the biggest flight of the tournament.

Tou Kue led out 11,500 from the small blind with {3-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{k-Diamonds} on the table and around 15,000 in the pot. Kelly Slay moved all in from under the gun, and a third player gave up.

Kue asked for a count, smelling trouble, but he called the 32,500-shove anyway. He found himself coolered as his {q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for the second-nut flush wasn't enough. Slay turned up {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for the nuts and the {k-Spades} river couldn't help Kue.

Day 1b of $1,111 Little One for One Drop Starts at 12 p.m. PDT

One Drop

While 240 players have already made it through, the $1,111 Little One for One Drop offers two more starting flights to run up a stack during 10 one-hour levels (those who want to save some time can also register during the first two levels on Day 2).

Day 1a attracted 702 runners, including re-entries, and the subsequent flights are likely to draw larger turnouts, given the influx of players who will have been eliminated from the Main Event.

The vast majority of contenders have been buying the full 40,000-stack in exchange for the $111-donation towards the One Drop Foundation so the most successful players should be able to increase their stack by more than tenfold.

With the first level starting with the 100/100 blinds, one could suspect a slow start, but yesterday proved that the unlimited re-entry option is a strong incentive for the runners to widen their ranges.

So make sure to come back at 12 p.m. to catch all the action right from the start. PokerNews will be providing live updates throughout the whole ten-hour stretch.
