After six hours of play Day 2 action, Event #65: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship is officially in the books. Day 2 added 18 new faces at the start of play bringing the total to 136 players and when the day finished, only 43 remain. Chris Vitch bagged up the biggest stack with 795,000.
Vitch played around the 200,000 mark for most of the day until he had his table break and won some hands to run it up to the chip lead. Just five days ago, Vitch won $93,764 for his 10th place finish in Event #58: $50,000 Poker Players Championship and looks to keep his hot streak going heading into Day 3 of this event.
Hot on Vitch's tail are two players he should be very familiar with as they cashed in the same event as him. Scott Bohlman who finished in 18th place in the PPC, sits in second with (628,000) and not far behind is Bryce Yockey coming off his 4th place heartbreak finish sitting third in chips with (535,000). Day 1 chip leader Michael McKenna and Kim Kallman (420,000) round out the top five stacks heading into Day 3.
Other players that bagged large stacks include bracelet winners Yuri Dzivielevski (414,000), Viacheslav Zhukov (410,000), Steven Wolansky (389,000), Nick Schulman (380,000), and Joe Hachem (345,000) who had the chip lead close to the end of the night but still ended the night in good shape.
A lot of big names are headed to Day 3 but plenty of notables fell by the wayside as well. Shaun Deeb, Alex Foxen, Kate Hoang, Cary Katz, Ari Engel, and Anthony Zinno were among the 84 players to be eliminated during today’s action.
The prize pool generated a total of $1,814,200 with first place getting paid $463,670 with 29 players walking away with a minimum of $15,237.
