Event #4: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better

Dia 2 Concluído

Richard Fuller Bags Day 2 Lead in $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better

Nível 20 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante
Day 2 Chipleader Richard Fuller
Day 2 Chipleader Richard Fuller

The second day of Event #4: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better has now come to an end at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino. There were 373 hopefuls to start the day and when the dust had settled only 46 remained, with Richard Fuller securing the biggest stack of the day.

Fuller is a WSOP regular who has almost half a million in cashes and seems to favor non'Hold'em tournaments judging by his resume. He had just about average before the dinner break, but right after returning he caught fire and began a heater that he rode into the chip lead by the end of the night.

The Seattle, Washington native took an opponent out with about an hour left in the night, bringing him over the quarter-million mark. After that knock-out, he insisted on playing every pot and it paid off as he is starting the third day with an immense 474,000 in chips. Right behind him is Clifford Schinkoeth who bagged 448,000. Rounding out the top five starts are Tom McCormick (400,00), John Espositio (350,000), and David Halpern (359,000).

Many notable players booked their ticket into Day 3 and that list includes the likes of three-time bracelet winner Ben Yu (294,000), Scott Abrams (240,000), four-time bracelet winner Mike Matusow (215,000), Andrey Zaichenko (187,000), four-time bracelet winner Jeff Madsen (125,000), Andrew Barber (111,000), and three-time bracelet winner John Monnette (71,000).

Many notables made the money but failed to secure a Day 3 birth and that list includes David Benyamine (68th - $2,996), Steven Wolansky (72nd - $2,996), Michael Chow (74th - $2,714), Philip Long (83rd - $2,504), Owais Ahmed (85th - $2,504), Luis Velador (95th - $2,355), Eli Elezra (97th - $2,355), Scott Bohlman (99th - $2,355), Nick Kost (101st - $2,257), and James Woods (110th - $2,257).

The remaining players will be returning to the blinds of 5,000/10,000 and the limits of 10,000/20,000. There will be a 15-minute break after every two levels of play and a 60-minute dinner break at the end of level 26. The tournament will play down until only six remains and those select few will bag, moving on to the final day of the event.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be bringing all you all of the updates throughout the event, so stay tuned as all of the action unfolds.

Roger Smith was involved in a three-way pot where Chip Jett got eliminated from the tournament.

Jeff Madsen
Jeff Madsen

Jeff Madsen raised from the small blind after it folded to him. Big blind Scott Abrams called.

The flop fell {k-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and Madsen continued with a bet of 8,000. Abrams called again.

The turn was the {k-Spades} and Madsen opted to check this time. Abrams immediately took over the betting lead with a bet of 16,000. Madsen called and the dealer completed the board with the {10-Spades} on the river.

Madsen check-called a bet on the river and he saw his rivered full house wasn't good enough to take down the pot.

Abrams opened up {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Madsen showed {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}.

Fuller Builds Up Through the Knock Out of Auel

Nível 20 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

Richard Fuller opened in early position and was immediately raised by Forrest Auel. Fuller called, the flop came down {j-Hearts}{a-Spades}{q-Hearts} and Fuller pushed in a bet.

Auel threw in two bets, Fuller made it three and Auel called all in for less. Fuller showed {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for two pair and Auel tabled {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for a pair of aces.

The {j-Clubs} on the turn and {3-Hearts} on the river changed nothing as Fuller scooped in the pot, eliminating his opponent.
