Torbey Back Up; Gugliuzza Holds

Nível 34 : 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante
Amer Torbey
Amer Torbey

In a preflop clash between Amer Torbey and David Rasmussen, the chips ended up in the middle before the flop was dealt. Torbey was all in for all of his 17,100,000 in chips and Gugliuzza had him covered.

Amer Torbey: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
David Rasmussen: {k-}{j-}

The board came down {5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades}{a-Clubs} to give Torbey, who lost a bunch of chips earlier, a sizable double-up back to where he started.

At the same time at an adjacent table Anthony Gugliuzza was standing up and rubbed his hands in anticipation. Gugliuzza had {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} open in front of him and Diogo Veiga had made the call with {10-Hearts}{10-Spades} for all of Gugliuzza's 8,050,000 in chips.

The dealer slowly dealt {6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{9-Spades} and an ecstatic Gugliuzza clapped his hands in celebration.

Morlet 3-bets

Nível 34 : 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante

Tomas Morlet had just been moved to Table #400 when the following hand happened.

Paul Cullen raised to 1,200,000 from middle position and was called by Daniel Gamer in late position.

Tomas Morlet then three-bet shoved his remaining 6,050,000 chips, which got a quick fold from the small blind.

Andrew Johnson, in the big blind, also new to the table and with fewer chips than Morlet, thought about it for about thirty seconds before he folded his hand, which was met by quick folds from Cullen and Gamer.

Sultanbekov Eliminated in Confusing Fashion

Nível 34 : 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante

After Sharavan Chhabria raised to 1,200,000 from middle position, action folded to Azatbek Sultanbekov in the small blind and he three-bet shoved all in.

Mindaugas Kerbelis then called from his big blind, leaving himself only 1,350,000 behind.

Chhabria confirmed the count, saying "Call," but then said he meant to say "All in."

Sultanbekov, thinking he was headsup, accidentally exposed one of his cards, the {9-Hearts}.

After Kerbelis checked the {6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{q-Spades} flop, Chhabria put out a bet that easily covered Kerbelis and again said that he meant to say "All in," which prompted a fold from Kerbelis.

The two remaining players then tabled their hands.

Azatbek Sultanbekov: {a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Sharavan Chhabria: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}

The {q-Hearts} turn and {q-Diamonds} river completed the board, which gave Chhabria a full house and eliminated Sultanbekov from the tournament.

Kings Against Aces Twice for Andersen

Nível 33 : 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante

Janet Andersen got eliminated after losing two hands in brutal fashion, both times holding pocket kings against pocket aces.

On the last hand, Paul Cullen opened to 1,300,000 and Edward Slack shoved for a stack around 4,000,000 from the cut-off. After some thought, Jesse Solano called from the small blind and Janet Andersen, left with only 875,000 after losing with kings versus aces earlier, called all-in. Paul Cullen let it go and the players tabled their cards:

Jesse Solano: {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Janet Andersen: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Edward Slack: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}

"Unbelievable!" said in one voice the players at the table. "We've had aces at least five times since we started the day," said Slack. The dealer delivered a board of {9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{3-Spades}{3-Clubs}{4-Spades}, eliminating Andersen from the tournament. Andersen made her way to the exit with a smile, saying "It was really not a lucky day for me!"
