Rutter Eliminates Barlow

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 300 ante

Big O

On a flop of {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Spades}, all of the money went in between Todd Barlow and Stuart Rutter. The former had {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Spades} for an open-ended straight flush draw with a wrap and a pair. Rutter had {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades} for the nut flush draw and a low draw. He hit both as the {3-Clubs} arrived and the river didn't save Barlow.

Hildebrand Doubles with Seven-Six

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 300 ante

PL 2-7 Triple Draw

Per Hildebrand and Eli Elezra went to the first draw with just over 20,000 in the middle. Both players took one and Hildebrand's remaining chips went in. Elezra called for 11,000 or so.

Hildebrand stood par and Elezra discarded one, then did it again on the last draw.

Hildebrand opened {7-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-} and Elezra had a live seven. However, he peeled a nine and Hildebrand scored a double.

PL 2-7 Triple Draw

Jim Collopy checked after first draw from the big blind and Dario Sammartino bet 2,800. Collopy potted for 13,550 and Sammartino set him in for about 18,000 more. Collopy slid his chips in, checked his holding and flicked in a card. Sammartino patted and Collopy drew one more, with Sammartino again pat.

"Nuts," the Italian said softly, spreading a wheel on the felt.

Collopy had a nut draw with {7-}{5-}{3-}{2-}, but paired his five and headed for the rail.

Hennigan Wastes No Time

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 300 ante

Pot-Limit Omaha

John Hennigan arrived at his table and before he stacked his chips into piles, he was involved in a pot against Michel Leibgorin who made it 2,400 out of the small blind. Hennigan called in the big and Leibgorn bet 3,025 on the {2-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop. Hennigan click-raised to 6,050 and Leibgorin called.

Leibgorin check-called another 9,000 on the {4-Diamonds} turn and after Leibgorin checked Hennigan cut out a bet of 17,000 on the {Q-Diamonds} river. Leibgorin called one more time.

"I have a four," Hennigan said, showing {J-Spades}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}.

Leibgorin slammed his {A-}{A-}{K-}{K-} on the felt and the pot went Hennigan's way.

Weinman's Check-Raise Fails

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 300 ante

Pot-Limit Omaha

Daniel Weinman appeared to have put in a check-raise to about 18,000 from the big blind on a final board of {4-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{10-Spades}. Jerry Wong, who had bet 7,000 from under the gun, was in the tank. He announced all in and Weinman snap-folded.

Harmetz Doubles Through Mirzikinian

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 300 ante

Pot-Limit Omaha

Daniel Harmetz got all in for 9,300 with {a-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} against the {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{4-Spades} of Warwick Mirzikinian.

"Oh, I'm in bad shape," Harmetz said.

Not for long as {8-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flopped to give him trips. The turn was a {3-Clubs} and the river a {6-Hearts} so Harmetz doubled up.

Welcome to Day 2 of Event #40: $2,500 Mixed Big Bet

John Hennigan
John Hennigan

One of the more unique events on the World Series of Poker schedule, Event #40: $2,500 Mixed Big Bet, is set for a Day 2 that will start at 2 p.m. at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino.

While most mixed games are comprised of a cadre of limit poker variants, the big bet mix put together by the WSOP, this one features Big O, 2-7 single draw, pot-limit Omaha hi-lo, no-limit five-card draw, pot-limit Omaha and pot-limit 2-7 triple draw. Some games include a button ante to pump up the pot even more.

The six-handed format screams action and thats exactly what happened on a busy Day 1 that saw 51 of 205 entries advance. Several notables are among that number, including none other than "Johnny World" Hennigan who hopped into the event in a "who loves it more" moment right after finishing second in the $50,000 Poker Players Championship.

Jeff Lisandro, John Racener, Eli Elezra, Mike Matusow, and Brandon Shack-Harris also bagged big stacks and are in good shape, while Naoya Kihara will return to the chip lead to start today.

The Day 2 schedule calls for 10 more levels with 15-minute breaks after every two levels and a dinner break after the sixth level of play. Things will kick off with blinds of 400/800 in the multiple-round betting games and 500/1,000 in the two single-draw variants.

Stay tuned to PokerNews to see who will best position themselves for $122,138 and a bracelet in this fun, exciting event.
