1997 WSOP Main Event Runner-Up John Strzemp Eliminated

Nível 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
John Strzemp
John Strzemp

With around 20,000 in the middle and a board reading {j-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades}, John Strzemp, the man who finished runner-up to Stu Ungar in the 1997 WSOP Main Event (remember that one was played outside on Fremont Street in the Vegas heat), got his stack of 34,700 all in and at risk against Chun-Wai Lo.

Chun-Wai Lo: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}
John Strzemp: {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

Strzemp had flopped top pair but was behind the overpair of Lo. The {9-Diamonds} river was of no consequence and Strzemp headed to the rail.

Chris "Fox" Wallace Takes His Leave

Chris "Fox" Wallace moved all in for his last 1,800 in early position and Brock Wilson three-bet to 3,500 from the cutoff. Kirk Banks came along from the big blind and both active players checked the {5-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop.

After the dealer burned and turned the {8-Spades}, Banks bet 6,000 and Wilson called.

On the {3-Clubs} river, Banks checked and then folded when Wilson moved all in for around 15,000. Wilson showed the {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} for sevens and eights, which was good enough to win as Wallace could only muster {q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}.

Christian Pham Runs Kings Smack Dab Into Aces

Nível 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

The preflop action escaped us but we do know that Christian Pham got his stack of around 12,000 all in and he was in dire straits against Pedro Cabeca.

Pedro Cabeca: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Christian Pham: {K-}{K-}

Pham was looking for a king, but it wasn't in the cards as the board ran out {5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}.

Alexis Fleur Doubles Through Mikiyo Aoki

Nível 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

On a raised pot, the flop was reading {9-Spades}{2-Clubs}{q-Hearts} and three players were active in the hand. The initial player in the big blind checked and Alexis Fleur bet 3,600, with only Mikiyo Aoki making the call.

Things heated up on the {6-Spades} turn as Fleur announced all in for 24,800. Aoki quickly made the call with {K-Hearts}{q-Spades} for top pair, but Fleur tabled {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} a set of nines. The river {10-Diamonds} didn't change anything and Fleur doubled his stack.

Jason Guarinello Ships a Double

Nível 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Jason Guarinello moved all in for 15,300 from middle position and Ashraf Saadah isolated by moving all in over the top next to act in the hijack.

Guarinello: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Saadah: {k-Spades}{q-Spades}

The board ran out {3-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{7-Spades}{a-Clubs}{6-Spades} and Guarinello was pushed the pot.

Zachary Humphrey Finds Aces

Nível 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Zachary Humphrey has quadrupled his stack since the day started. On the last hand, he was holding {a-Clubs}{a-Spades} and was facing both Roman Korenev with {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} and Michael Falk with {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}. Humphrey was in very good shape to win the pot and a board that came queen-high didn't bring any help to his opponents.

Humphrey now how a comfortable stack of 120,000.
